I've managed a lot of things today.

I've made the second page to Baby Book #3.
Then we did the weekly laundry.
No cooking today, so I used the time to bake some cheesy buns (Käsepogatschen for the German speakers among us). They turned out so good that we decided to leave the chicken pasta bake from yesterday for tomorrow and the day after, when I'll be too busy to cook (concert and cleaning frenzy, respectively) and ate the things with leftover soup. Yum!

This being the weekend, there was practically nothing worth watching on the telly after lunchtime; although I did catch the end of one of the Miss Marple episodes. Better than nothing, although I much prefer the older versions with Joan Hickson. It was funny to see Una Stubbs in a different role; she became so bound to Mrs Hudson for me (as I'd never seen her in anything else before)!

Played a bit of Solitary on my geriatric laptop afterwards, and now the day is basically over. Well... save for the re-runs of the Great Australian Bake-Off. I'd prefer to watch some good, old-fashioned sci-fi, but those things aren't available on TV any longer. Too bad.

I've decided to re-watch the entire Miss Marple series featuring Joan Hickson, re-reading each novel every respective episode is based on. I find that I'm enjoying myself more than I'd have expected.

Progress so far:
- A Murder is Announced
- The Moving Finger
- The Body in the Library
- A Pocket full of Rye

Next up: The Murder at the Vicarage

I'm also in the process or reading some Miss Marple fanfic on AO3; unfortunately, very few of them are really appealing. I might give the Pit of Voles a try, too.

Speaking of which: does anyone know a good source for Miss Marple icons?

The Curious Tale of Mr Sheldon has been posted to FF.Net. Not yet beta read, due to my computer difficulties, so please bear with me.

Also, I realise that my entire concept of Mary Morstan (well, all three different concepts of mine) has been completely Moftiss-ed, but I don't really care. I'm not that fond of their concept, either,so I'll go the path of AUs after Season 2. Sorry.

I've used the chance to lay my grubby little hands on the shared computer at the school library - still cut off from my own PC, yeah, what a joy, isn't it? - and updated three different stories.Links follow below.

Chapter 6 - Cometh the Praetor of The Neutral Zone, my canon-compliant Star Trek - TNG fic.

Chapter 10 - Mending the Fences of Precious Like Rubies, my Miss Marple/Sherlock BBC crossover fic.

and

Chapter 14 -Debriefing of The Unexpected Rise of Director Jones, the pilot episode of the "Sleeping Dragons" series.

All links will take you to FF.Net. Hand-coding is a PITA, so it will take ungodly amounts of time until any of this can be posted to LJ and DW,too.

Chapter 09 - The Letter of precious Like Rubies has been posted to FF.Net. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland for beta reading.

I apologize for the possible formatting mistakes. I was updating from the school computer, which has a different operations system than my own, and I had to wrestle with the thing until it was willing to recognize the file.

Enjoy!

Since my antivirus programme is running out at midnight and Awesome Neighbour Guy didn't have the time to install the (already purchased) new version yet, I've hurriedly put up Chapter 10 of Director Jones and the next part of Precious Like Rubies to FF.Net. Have fun!

I'm not sure when my internet access wil be back. I'll check my mail at work or on my brand new, shiny iPod via wifi, but you can only do so much on an iPod with wifi; certainly not typing up new stuff and the likes.

So, I hope two new chapters on the same day will be enough for a while. More when I'm safely Norton-ed again. ~waves~

Chapter 07 - Good Neighbours of Precious Like Rubies has been posted to FF.Net.

In which the autopsy results are back, Mary Morstan makes her first appearance and Miss Marple feels the need to involve the niece of an old friend to find out the truth about the late Sherlock Holmes.

Enjoy!

Support is very much appreciated. Please send your constructive criticism via PM if you have to. Thanks.

Thanks to my gracious betas, Borys and [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland, I was able to upodate two stories at once last night. A good thing before work would swallow me in the whole for another week.

Chapter 6 - The First Call of my Miss Marple/Sherlock BBC x-over, Precious Like Rubies, has been posted to FF.Net.

Furthermore, Chapter 15 - Stowburg of Emissary of the Mark has been posted to FF.Net and to Stories of Arda.

Enjoy!

No, really! And we haven't even realized it! The truth hit me like a brick wall today on the bus when a young man came in, tubes coming out of both his ears. Mind you, he was bald, too, and had a completely blank expression. I'm not sure about the black clothes, I was too schocked by the revelation.

The Borg are everywhere!

Just take a look around you, wherever you go in your city, and you'll see!

Erm. Yes. Sorry. Apparently, the sad fact that nobody seems to like my poor "Neutral Zone" story - not since Chapter 1, the reaction to which gave me such high hopes - addled my brain a little. Must. Resist. Assimilaton.

Other than that, Chapter 5 - Settling Down in St Mary Mead of Precious Like Rubies has been posted to FF.Net. In which Jack Harkness paints the ceiling, Miss Marple is eavesdropping and Harry Watson buys curtains.

Enjoy!

Chapter 03 - Miss Marple Makes Inquiries of Precious Like Rubies has been posted to FF.Net. Miss Marple goes to Market Basing to make some research in the Town Library and meets the enigmatic librarian who also makes heavenly coffee.

Enjoy!

Chapter 2 - Gossip Girls has been posted to FF.Net. Also, both chaptes are now beta read and thus grammatically no longer insulting for the native speaker, thanks to the most generous [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland.

Enjoy!

Second try, just because LJ keeps telling me that the page can't be found. If the link doesn't work, here is the url again:

On a slightly less whiny note, I've been watching TV-versions of the Miss Marple stories lately. And it has been fun, in more than one note.

Title: Precious Like Rubies
Author: Soledad

Fandom: Miss Marple/Sherlock BBC crossover, with a side dish of Animal Ark
Genre: Drama/Family
Rating: Teens, for now

Summary: Sherlock is dead and John needs a change of scenery. Will he get more than he bargained for?

Note: The very idea of this story is based on the fact that St Mary Mead’s resident GP, Dr. Haydock, used to have a partner named Dr Sandford. That almost sounds like Stamford who, of course, is a key “Sherlock” character, bringing John and Sherlock together in the first place. I thought I’d let Mike meddle a bit again and see what happens. To that end, I had to screw a bit with the Miss Marple timeline, planting the old lady in the Sherlock era. In everything else, I was following both canons as far as possible for this story to still work.

Main characters: Dr. John Watson, Miss Jane Marple, Mike Stamford, Dr Gerard Haydock (the local doc of St Mary Mead), Mary Morstan, Mycroft Holmes, Rev Leonard Clement, his wife Griselda, Mrs Hudson - the rest we'll see.

First chapter posted, linked to the story title. Enjoy!

Oh, and if you've got any suggestions or found any mistakes, please comment here, so that I can answer/correct/thank for them. :)Which doesn't mean that reviews on FF.Net aren't welcome. *hint, hint*
