I've managed a lot of things today.

I've made the second page to Baby Book #3.
Then we did the weekly laundry.
No cooking today, so I used the time to bake some cheesy buns (Käsepogatschen for the German speakers among us). They turned out so good that we decided to leave the chicken pasta bake from yesterday for tomorrow and the day after, when I'll be too busy to cook (concert and cleaning frenzy, respectively) and ate the things with leftover soup. Yum!

This being the weekend, there was practically nothing worth watching on the telly after lunchtime; although I did catch the end of one of the Miss Marple episodes. Better than nothing, although I much prefer the older versions with Joan Hickson. It was funny to see Una Stubbs in a different role; she became so bound to Mrs Hudson for me (as I'd never seen her in anything else before)!

Played a bit of Solitary on my geriatric laptop afterwards, and now the day is basically over. Well... save for the re-runs of the Great Australian Bake-Off. I'd prefer to watch some good, old-fashioned sci-fi, but those things aren't available on TV any longer. Too bad.

Have you read the new Marple stories? The book is simply titled MARPLE. I downloaded the book to my kindle but haven’t read the new stories yet. I’ve heard mixed reviews of the new stories — criticism varying from the book being perfectly Miss Marple to “Agatha Christie would never…”.

I mentioned the new book to an online friend and she adored them. Then I went to Goodreads and some of the criticism was not good. It felt like the overall feel was that some of the authors understood Miss Marple as a character (and adored her), and other authors did not. I still haven’t dared to start reading it plus my to-be-read pile is HUGE, and Marple is further down my list. I’m buying and borrowing books faster than I can read because mostly I’ve been reading 9-1-1 fanfiction. Which is great, but then there’s all my lovely books, just waiting for me! Still, it’s the best problem; too many books to read! I won’t complain because it is the best dilemma!

I hardly read anything but fanfiction these days, but I've never heard of 9-1-1.

9-1-1 is an American procedural drama with firefighters and a police officer. The divinely beautiful Angela Basset plays the police officer. It’s a firefighter drama rather than a police drama. Because some of my favourite fanfic writers (Keira Marcos and Jilly James) began writing 9-1-1 fanfiction, I actually started to read the fanfics before I watched the show! (I rarely watch tv.) Now I watch the show as well.

Never seen the Aussie bake off, how's it compare to the British one?

also, have you seen Zumbo and if so, do you like that show?

I've never seen Zumbo; not even heard of it.

The Aussie bake-off is basically the same as the British one, just with other presenters, of course. Mum and I like it a lot.

the Aussie presenters have got to be better than that Noel guy.

Zumbo is an Aussie baking contest show on Netflix. I like it a lot.

Oh, I see. I don't have Netflix.
The Aussie presenters are silly enough, too, but nothing can be worse than Noel and Matt Lucas.

Sci-fi is always hard to find on TV, unless you like endless reruns of Star Trek. I like ST, but after three or four rewatches it gets too much.

At this point I'd even welcome endless reruns of ST (okay, I'm an avid fan, at least up to Voyager), but there is nothing on all those dozens of channels we get. Literally nothing! Just the same films shown over and over again, deadly boring/annoying reality shows, sport, idiotic competitions and the likes.

I wouldn't call even the Monday programme promising. *sigh*
Hence the various versions of the GBBO.
