I was busy today. Very, very busy. But it was a good thing, as I was busy with my own interests, with lots of me-time. Yay!

First, I boxed the Easter biscuits that got finished yesterday. That was quick, but I'm glad it's done and out of my hair.

Then I took out my Enterprise/Whoniverse crossover trilogy and completely revised the layout of the second and third parts. Well, perhaps "rearranged" would be a better word for it. I've finalized the canon episodes that will be handled in these two parts, inserted the AU elements I'm going to use, and now I know what will happen, in which order and how it will all end. I'm very pleased, even though it means that Part 2 will gain at least six additional chapters, aside from the two or three that had originally been planned. But that can't be helped, if I want to deliver a coherent story.

This, of course, means downloading and printing out several more episode summaries and transcripts (I'll need a lot of canon dialogue for this to work), but hey, it can be done! I'm very happy.

I also did a bit of crafting in the afternoon. The Hello Kitty booklets now all have the beds and the bedroom rugs fixed. Next up will be the bedside tables, the lamps(*) and the wall clocks, and the bedrooms will be finished. That would be two rooms out of four, each, so I actually might be able to complete the things by the end of June when they are due.

Oh, and Stories of Arda is down again. It briefly worked last night, but all I'm getting now is an error message again. I hope it doesn't mean the site would be about to collapse. I was planning to download a few favourites today... :((

(*) The original bedroom design I downloaded as a free template had a fish bowl on the bedside table, but that could be dangerous, right? What if Kitty becomes peckish during the night? That goldfish wouldn't stand a chance! *g*

I felt like rewatching The Sarah Jane Adventures today, starting from the very beginning. One episode down, many more to follow. Yes, I know it's a kiddie show, but I found, to my surprise, that I still like it. In fact, I like it better than before, probably because I don't have to deal with sullen teenagers on the daily basis anymore. *g*

It was a busy day, too. I went to the food shops and to the pharmacy today (running out of cold medicine would be impractical right now), then I did a bit of working on my felt nativity scenes in front of the telly, and cooked lunch. Following by a phone chat with my friend Evie, the day was more or less over. When did days become so short?

We are both feeling fairly well by now, thank God. I'm trying to remain careful, so that the tendency may continue. ;)

And in one more or less hale piece, each of us. Mum and I made a day trip to Vienna. I usually post a "bye-bye for a day"-entry on the train heading off, but my iPad mini was feeling capricious today and refused to connect with the wlan on the train, telling me, that it isn't secure. In the last five years, it never had any problems with RailJet wlan - perhaps it's getting old, like its owner, and only feels secure at home.

In any case, the trip was nice. Very passable weather: not too hot and not too cold, sunshine basically all day. I didn't find any craft material, because Vienna apparently isn't the right place for that - or I don't know the places where to find what I might need or like. However, Vienna is the right place to find DVDs. I bought two 5th Doctor episodes: Black Orchid and The Visitation, and I'm very happy with my acquisition.

The Germans are bringing out Classic!Who episodes without any logic that I can discover. They've brought out the whole Sixth and Seventh Doctor series as box sets, but bring out First, Second and Fifth Doctor serials as single DVDs. Of course, there's the chance that they're bringing out the rest as well, it just doesn't find its way to Austria's Müller cosmetics chain or the Saturn electric stores. A shame because I never know what I'll find (if I find anything), and always have to carry a list with me when I get to Austria, so that I won't buy the same stuff twice. HUF to Euro relations are at an historic depth (from our POV), so these things are not cheap for me. Not even the ones supposedly on sale.

Other than that, we had a nice, opulent breakfast at one of the Anker bakeries, strolled through the historic inner city, bought some Manner biscuits and had a later lunch at another Anker bakery. That was basically it. We had a grand old time, even though we're deadly exhausted.

Edit: Forgot to mention that we visited a Milka chocolate shop - the only place where I took a few photos. This life-sized plush cow could move its head, mouth, ears and tail and it looked as if it were eating the artificial flower decoration. *g*

Shop window with smaller cows and lots and lots of chocolate. Yum!

I went to the British bookshop here in Budapest today. They offer one the opportunity of ordering books and DVD's of one's interest, assuming that their distributor can provide them. I wanted to order the wonderful sci-fi classic "Forbidden Planet" on DVD. Unfortunately, they don't have it; only on BlueRay, which I can't use.

Since I'm a hopeless failure where online shopping is considered, I thought I'd ask you folks: does someone happen to have a Region 2 DVD version of the movie, or can anyone help me to acquire a copy on the Net? In exchange I offer any one of the classic!Who DVDs - honestly purchased and paid for via aforementioned British bookshop, but later I got the entire seasons in Austria, so I have two copies of each.
- The Mark of the Rani (Sixth Doctor)
- Time and the Rani (Seventh Doctor)
- Delta and the Bannermen (Seventh Doctor)

I know it's a shot into the blue, but I thought I'd give it a try. I've screened the comments, so only those who answer and myself will be able to see them. Thanks.

Edit: Two possible ways of success have shown themselves. Thank you, ladies.

Chapter 14 - Conversational Klingon has been posted to FF.Net.

In which they finish the first part of their mission, visit the Klingon homeworld and gain a new Science Officer. This story is now complete, but there will be numerous sequels later... or so I hope. Give the muse nice treats and she might cooperate sooner rather than later. ;)

Apologies for forgetting to post an update alert for Chapter 10. RL has been being gruelling lately. I'm surprised that I can still bring up the energy to write at all!

So, I've decided to start posting the ST Enterprise/Whoniverse crossover to FF.net. I hope you guys are going to like it. It's a bit different in style from my other stuff, but it might actually work.

Give it a try!

Apparently, the DVD-version of the unaired classic!Who episode is now available. Unfortunately by Amazon, and Amazon only deals with private customers, so I can't order it through the English bookshop that usually gets me things I want. So, if anyone happens to have a used version or whatnot, I would gladly exchange the the after version of the first two Hobbit movies for it.

I've been hinted at working on an alternate Enterprise pilot, with probably a couple of more stories in the same AU settings later on, right? The story in which John Barrowman would play Captain Archer and Gareth David-Lloyd the enigmatic, time-travelling Crewman Daniels?

Well. I've finished the first 3 chapters, rewriting them several times and am well into Chapter 4 now. Except that I suddenly got the idea to turn it into a Star Trek/Whoniverse crossover.

The crossover settings would be like this:

- Captain Archer is actually a great- great- great- and several more times great-grandson of Jack Harkness, hailing from a marriage in the 19th or early 20th century (remember that wedding photo Jack was gazing at longingly at the end of "Something Borrowed"?)

- Crewman Daniels actually is Ianto, who got snatched and reanimated by the 9th Doctor during "Children of Time". Just because I like Nine best. And besides, it's all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey, so why not? Anyway, he can't return to his own time (timelines crossed, Reapers unleashed and stuff), so Nine places him into the 22nd century to figure out what happened to the Torchwood Institute, which was supposed to support human space exploration and to make sure Enterprise survives the machinations of the Vulcans, the Sulibans or whoever else is involved in the Temporal Cold War.

- Hoshi is a descendant of Tosh, and I gave her a similar background, including iprisonment for unwillingly working for Terra Prime. This aspect is already present in the current version of the story and won't change.

- The shadowy figure giving the Suliban instructions from the future is actually the Master.

I'm not sure which version to write. On the one hand, I've already written a lot for the original, purely Enterprise version, and throwing it out would be a shame. OTOH, the crossover version has much potential, and it could give a more believable explanation to the stupid Temporal Cold War than Enterprise canon ever has.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Part 90 - New Horizons has been posted to FF.Net and to the 13th_sherlock DW comm.

This will be the last update for quite some time. The next story arc, tentatively titled The Game Master, will be the WhoLock version of "The Great Game", but frankly, I haven't even begun to write it. I do have some definite ideas; unfortunately, some of them are controversial, so I have to choose which ones to use at all, and, of course, write the dratted thing, too. I definitely won't start posting before at least half the new arc isn't written, so that I would be able to keep up the weekly updates.

Please, bear with me, and if you have any suggestions or like to play guessing games, visit the DW version and leave a comment. At least there I can answer your questions and discuss possibilities, unlike on FF.Net.

Enjoy!
