Interlude #2 - Recreational Activities aka the Jack Harkness smutfeast, has been posted to [livejournal.com profile] otherworlds_lib. FF.Net, as usual, is one chapter behind, but since I won't be able to post explicit stuff there (I don't want my account yanked), it will catch up as of next week.

Warning: This chapters shows Jack at his seductive best, so adult readers only, please. Also this is not a Janto story, in case someone has made false hopes, sorry.

This is an entry in which I discuss slash pairings and such. Since I know that some on my flist don't like slash, I've put it behind the tag. But if you don't mind slash, you're welcome to read and comment, your input will be highly valued.

Behind the tag, you can find a short essay (sort of) about what baffles me most in the unlikely and ungrounded slash pairings I sometimes come across while reading fanfiction. Don't look if you're easily insulted on behalf of your OTP.

Which is what makes the Sherlock section on FF.Net such a hard place to find anything worth reading. So, here I'm giving you a few author names that won't disappoint you if you want to read really good stories:
senvenpercent
chappysmom
stillwaters1
And that's basically it, since [livejournal.com profile] saki101 doesn't post to FF.Net. All other authors are to be approached with care. You can get nasty surprises when you expect them the least.

I was updating my InsaneJournal entry (=the newest chapter of "Atonement), when - among the adverts - I found a link to this short article.

I found it highly amusing, and I believe the author is right. We like what we like, and if men are allowed to like lesbian pr0n, why should women have to explain themselves and find deep reasons for liking guy-on-guy action?

And, more importantly, as the OP says: the part that counts is the story and the characterization, not the nature of the pairing included. If it's badly written, I won't care to read it after the first chapter. That's why I've got a problem with most of the Sherlock slash out there.

Remember my post a couple of weeks ago? Well, after having surfed the Net like crazy for hours each day - and failing - I actually found the saved story on my HD. Go figure. I didn't remember that it was part of a series, and skipped it each time. Ah, well.

Re-reading it last night, I experienced the same disappointment as I often do with old stories I once used to like.

Summary: great ideas, poor execution - a definite disappointment. I want those hours of my life I spent looking for it back, please. :(

P.S: The fact that a story is old doesn't necessarily mean it must lose its attraction. In the same fandom and genre, I can still re-read and enjoy Ainzfern's stories, for example, despite their minor flaws.

It was long overdue, so I've finally updated [livejournal.com profile] telekis_vendiak, my fanfic recommendation page.

Oh, and when we're already talking about updates: "Tales of Halabor 05" has just been posted to all the usual places. Dedicated to all the fans of the manly Men of Gondor.

Getting enamored in a - relatively - new fandom is always dangerous. My plotbunnies are multiplying at a truly alarming speed. As is I wouldn't have at least two dozen unfinished WIPs in at least half a dozen other fandoms. But the muses are capricious creatures. They do what they will. Consequently, I've got already five Cadfael-related plotbunnies in the nest. *le sigh*

I apologize by those who had to see this already on the Yahoo list. ;))
And no, I don't think I'd launch into any of those stories (expect the one I've alraedy started) any time soon. I just wanted to share the bunnies with you.

Behind the tag, because this is a long and rant-y entry.

Okay, it seems I still can be grossed out by fanfic. Even if it isn't a genre that I won't read on principle.
