Yep, I've actually brought up the strength to do some typing.

Yep, I wrote a little bit more - not much, but progress is progress.

Today, as the Germans would say, der Knoten ist endlich geplatzt - I'm sorry, I can't translate that into English. But the fact is, a many-years-old plotbunny finally decided that it wanted to be tended to, and I wrote 3 pages for the first chapter of a story temporarily titled Elf-Root Revisited.

It started off as a missing scene to Elf-Root, which refused to work, no matter how much I tried. Due to my general inability to write anything short - save for a few exceptions - as soon as I've worked out a plot that consists 6 chapters so far, things seemed to work at once. I've put what's written beyond the tag in its entirety, in the unlikely case somebody is interested. Should that happen, questions and comments will be welcome. If not, at least the fact that the bold fonts and italics are already put into it will spare me the hand-coding when I post it to AO3. ;))

So, since I'm working with Dwarves at the moment, I decided to take a few photos with my iPad from the Weta Workshop books because I find the early Dwarf concepts much better than the end results. I've already posted a few such pictures several entries ago, so I thought I'd post the rest as well.
The rest behind the tab because of its length )

So much about Dwarves today, I hope you like the pics, despite the poor quality. It is not easy to take a photo out of a book, where the original picture is of the size of a matchbox.

My Dwarves

Posting The Book of Mazarbul to AO3 has brought me back to my Dwarves. And while I despise many of the choices PJ made in the Hobbit films, some of the original concepts were really spectacular and I chose those images when I wrote.

So, meet a film!Thorin I could have accepted a lot easier:

Still Richard Armitage, but aged a bit so that it would fit Thorin's actual age much better, don't you think?

And then a truly venerable Baling whom I would have bought the Lord of Moria act in a moment:

And this is my female Bifur, disguised as a male toymaker prior to the Quest of Erebor:

Sorry I couldn't insert that picture. It isn't a very good one, I might make a cut-out myself one day, but I do find her exotic and beautiful and that's why I made Óin fall in undying love with her. *g* She's the first one in the second row, btw, with the black hair and beard and the black tattoos in her face.

And, of course, the Lady Dís at her most impressive:

I had a busy day today, despite the fact that we had to go to various official places in the morning. Like trying to move my retirement process forward (no such luck just yet), paying the bills, buying the train tickets for our upcoming holiday and the likes.

Coming home, I've finished a card I've been working on for a couple of days (picture coming up tomorrow), and then I threw myself into writing! *g*

I wrote almost a full scene for the current chapter of Timescapes, plus I typed up the already written stuff for The Book of Mazarbul. I also came to the excellent idea of swapping Chapters 14 and 15 (both as-yet unfinished), because I realized that it would make so much more sense that way; not to mention make the transition a great deal smoother. Oh, and I finally found a title for Chapter 14 - for now.

So, I am well content.

I've finalized the list of Dwarves who would go to Moria with Balin, adding all the personal details I have figured out so far. With a list of 57, it took me several years, to be honest, and some of them still don't have anything beyond their name, gender and Clan. But I'm getting there.

So, go to [livejournal.com profile] edhellondawards, take a look and have fun!

Chapter 13 - A Congregation of Wizards has been posted to FF.Net.

In which we meet Gandalf, Radagast, the wise-woman of the Petty-Dwarves, the Fire-mage and the Rune-smith in one epic chapter.

Enjoy!

No, really! It only took me two years or so, but Chapter 12 - Dark Legacy has finally been posted to FF.Net.

In which Balin summons the BlackLocks of Erebor to an important Clan meeting, Dori's wife wields her due power as Clan matriarch and Ori reveals his young spouse Flói some dark events in Clan history.

Enjoy!

This was Weta's original Balin concept:

I find it wonderful, much better than the little clown he turned out in the end. So, I am using this picture for my Balin, in all my stories, especially in "Mazarbul". Do you like it?

And since I'm shamelessly displaying Dwarf images already, here is one of my female Bifur from "Dwobbit", complete with fake travelling beard and the tattoos she earned after fighting Mannish footpads on the Road. I couldn't find a single linkable image, but she is the first on the left in the upper row.

Personally, I find her stunning, but that is probably just me.
