I've finished the folding Christmas box; all I have to do is the lid tomorrow, although that will consume some time as it is shaped like a little house. There will be more pictures about the finished box later on; now I want to show you the individual panels that decorate the inside. As always, the colours are a little off, but this is the best my iPad mini can produce... or its technically challenged owner.

Finishing the box and then starting with the lid ate my morning (I'm not really good at doing blueprints and calculating things), so I lazed the afternoon away with watching crap telly. Which is a waste of time, really - I even fell asleep in the middle of it - but I'm still so ridiculously tired from time to time... Getting old sucks!

Wow, these panels are really lush, and your certainly getting your Christmas boxes done in good time.

I've never come across the concept of a Xmas box in the UK, is it a traditional thing from your childhood?

No, I got the idea from YouTube. I stumbled over exploding boxes a couple of years ago and now searched for Christmas-themed ones for the annual charity fair of our school. I need new ideas each year as people wouldn't buy twice the same thing.

As for starting early, these boxes are very detailed and time-consuming, so I chose to make them when I don't have to work. For the last few years I've worked the permanent afternoon shift, which means that you can only do anything at your own speed during the weekends.
