As in each year, I'm throwing a virtual birthday party, which starts today and ends on October 9 at midnight, sharp. The goal, as always, is to produce as many collapsing threads on as many pages as possible. You are welcome to joins, start threads, post pictures and participate on every discussion you want to.

To make the party more appealing, here are pics of the two cakes I baked for my real birthday party, which we had yesterday with a bunch of colleagues - a week too early because of school schedules.

Pineapple tart with vanilla pudding:

And a chocolate sponge cake, filled with whiskey-orange marmalade, which we bought in London about a century ago, and decorated with coconut shards:

So, I'm turning 61, soon, come and celebrate with me! Oh, and cake recipes and pictures totally count as threads, too.

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. I'm trying to balance attention between the three universes, but it isn't an easy task, so it's slow work. The whole idea came to me when I realized that what Matt is doing does have some vague similarities to the work of a Time Agent - only more responsible, perhaps.

That was the first thought that occurred to me as soon as Primeval reached its 4th season. I know most people prefer the old team, but I don't. I like Matt, and I loved Lady Emily Merchant, while I could never stand that annoying little parasite, Connor Temple, and I found the way Abby disregarded the life of other human beings in favour of animals off-putting. Granted, I'm not an animal lover, but even if I were, bringing one's colleagues into mortal danger just to save some reptile would make my hackles rise.

Oh, and I found Helen Cutter and all her scheming and her unexpected success boring on the one hand and highly unbelievable on the other hand. Hence my preference of Seasons 4 and 5. I think Alexander Siddig made a wonderful adversary.

I will have to give the later seasons a try - I have only seen season one and maybe 1/2 of season 2

I find the later seasons definitely better - no Helen Cutter to begin with, and I wasn't that fond of Nick Cutter, either. I loved Sarah Page (Season 3 addition), a shame that she was killed off off-screen between Seasons 3 and 4.

They didn't even write a death scene for her? That doesn't seem right or fair to the actress
