As you all know by now, LJ has decided to crash our birthday party - the original post is no longer visible. But some of us still had most of the comments in our inbox and decided to reconstruct the original party as well as we can, because we had great fun and the discussions were wonderful.

However, to avoid the same mishap occurring to us, we've decided to open up a second entry for further comments while working on rebuilding the original. We still have two days left, and we won't allow LJ to crash our party!

The original entry had 1328 comments, on 6 pages. The reconstructed party has now 500+ (all reposted within one day and a few new ones added), having reached Page 7 already.

Let's see what else can we come up with. New guests are welcome to share the fun. :)

Definitely looking forward to more Doctor Who. No idea when we'll get S2
of Once Upon A Time but I loved S1 so I'll want to see that.

Not watching Merlin asI'm so far behind. I missed S1 completely - can't
remember why. Got the DVDs but haven't had time to watch them. What
season is it now?

There really isn't much worth watching at the moment, especially as I
only have freeview channels. Quite liking Person Of Interest though, and
I'm watching Alphas.

I only have freeview too. Yes, I suspect it will be a long time before s2
of OUAT is on, but really want to see more of it.

Merlin is at s5 now, s1 is the best in many ways.

I saw the first two episodes of Person Of Interest - thought it
was okay, there was potential, but for some reason have not got around to
watching the others (recorded them, though) ;)

I've only got S1 of McGyver on DVD. must see if I can get more. I've been
rewatching SG-1, I'm halfway through S4 but haven't had much time for
that lately either.

I was talking to a friend about MacGyver finding out she had never even
heard of him, which made me go looking for DVDs. Which is when I found
the complete box set at such a good price that I couldn't resist it! As
for SG-1 I keep looking at Amazon and various other on-line DVD shops,
but they either don't have the complete box set or want in excess of £100
for it, or both

I suppose it is expensive as it is 10 seasons + 2 films... but still, it
is a lot of money!

I think the cheapest one that actually claimed to have it available was
around £200 which is just more money than I am willing to spend on a DVD
box set these days. In contrast I got all of West Wing which is 7
seasons for under £50. I just have to keep looking and hopefully one day
I will find it for a price I am willing to pay and actually available! I
wonder if they are working on a repackaged box set or something; that
might explain why it is both rare and expensive at the moment.

sales.... I keep an eye on things as somethings suddenly get really
cheap....

I managed to get the first 6 seasons of SG-1 cheap in a shop near me
quite a few years ago, then watched the lot in 2 weeks. The other seasons
have been birthday or christmas presents from my partner, he knows what I
like! Buying as a complete boxed set can be so expensive, so I've stuck
to buying season by season when I find what I want cheap enough. Sadly,
I've never seen a complete boxed set of anything at a price I could afford

watch very little TV these days anyway. I used to watch a lot, but...

My one absolute must watch is Doctor Who - I'm a lifelong Whovian
and I love Eleven. Other things, if I miss an episode I don't fret.

I missed OUAT one week when they stuck it on early and I didn't know.
That was irritating, but it didn't interfere with me enjoying the next
episode.

*nods* I tend to set things to record the whole series - which usually
works even with randomly shifting times. I really prefer to watch things
in order, not missing any episodes - so much so that for some shows I've
watch some on tv and then waited to get the dvd rather than skip an
episode... (weird I know)

And it sems that I *have* found the post where teh above TV-trend ties in, after all. Ah, well, it's out of order but it's good enough. I don't have the energy to redo teh whole thing again.

No, it's not weird at all. If you don't watch things in order these days
you're liable to miss important plot points, most series seem to have
plot arcs these days instead of just being self contained episodes that
can be read in any order.. With DVDs, you can watch them whenever you
want. I don't have anything to record on at the moment, but since I watch
so little TV it doesn't matter.

*nods* I just sometimes miss being at the same point in canon as other
people... partly why I seem to mostly only end up actively involved in tv
fandoms for dead shows...

I've mostly stuck to one fandom, though I do read a bit of SG-1 and
Firefly fanfic for a change at times. I only got internet 4 years ago,
and the only reason I got it then was because a penfriend introduced me
to Torchwood fanfiction. I had no idea fanfiction existed until then. I'd
always thought I was weird, making up stories about the characters in my
favourite TV shows, but it turns out that thousands of other people do
the same thing! It was quite a revelation!

Defnitely after the books. The first series remains relatively faithful
to the original, but the deviations in the second one are considerable,
and rarely an improvement. Plus the scriptwriters added a lot of gratuitous sex.

Me.
It was the same with "The Borgias". I made it as far as the middle of the very first episode, but after the tenth anorexic, ugly naked bitch I just gave up on the whole thing.
