Okay, as by today, I've baked seven different sorts of cookies. They've all turned out quite good, save from the sugar icing for the gingerbread men - I'm obviously cursed when it comes to that particular detail. Ah, well, there are worse things than that.

So, right now we have:
1) Vanillekipferln
2) Demel-Stars
3) Gingerbread men
4) Walnut cookies
5) Orange hearts
6) Haselnußplätzchen
7) Maronistangerln

Sorry, still no English vocabulary when it comes to cooking and baking. Maronis are chestnuts, in any case.

In the next two days the oven gets free, as I'll have to work late. But on Thursday, Nougatkipferln and Choco-cookies are on the programme.

I still hope I'll manage to write some more Drizzt in Mirkwood stuff in-between, though. "The Web of Darkness" ought to be finished before the year ends.

I think the only vocabulary you need in this case is "delicious."

Baking has got to be the best part of the holiday season. I hope I'll get a bit of time to do some of my own. It's not Christmas without springerles!

Baking is great fun. Paradoxically, it relaxes me a great deal, no mater how exhausted I am after a full afternoon of kitchen pillaging.

Springerles? I've never made those. Are they the one where you have to press the dough into small wooden forms?

yes, those are the ones, although I cheat and just roll out the dough and cut the cookies out with a round cookie cutter. Not as pretty, but just as tasty, and MUCH easier!
