Yep, they're here. The summer holidays, I mean - and boy have I been efficient so far!

Last Thursday, I started an Atkins diet. Not such a hardness - I like both meat and salads, so it's okay, although the loss of bread and sweets hit me hard. But I owe it my bad kneecap to take some burden (=weight) off it, so let'S hope that I can make the first phase work before we go to Belgium/the Netherlands, and the second phase when we come back.

I began to finish pending chapters to my never-ending WIPs. Some of the Torchwood and the Torchwood/SGAtlantis stuff has already been posted to [livejournal.com profile] otherworlds_lib, more is coming in a day or two. Also, I've finished the next chapter of my Dwarf epic, "The Book of Mazarbul" - I hope that I manage to type it up tomorrow, as a birthday gift for the lovely [livejournal.com profile] disthrainsdotte. Next I'll give "The Shoemaker's Daughter" a try - it's been pending for... well, forever.

I also intend to type up some of my original fic and to post it. Since Fictionpress now has Hungarian as an accepted language, perhaps someone might take a liking to Seashore Lands. Who knows? Miracles are possible - just somewhat unlikely.

The less delightful part of the holidays is that I can't put off seeing some doctors. I have to go to a dermatologist to see if they can do something for the stupid birthmarks the sunlight has been brought forth in the recent years, due to the hole in the ozone layer. I've got very sensitive skin, and all kinds of bad things happen to it, despite all defence mechanisms.

And I have to see my dentist again, too - once a year I go and have my teeth (the ones I still own) checked, and during school term, there just isn't enough time. She lives on the other end of the city, and let me tell you, Budapest is frelling huge. Especially when you try to cross it via public traffic.

What else is there? Kids of my last class have finished secondary school. One of the girls called me yesterday to tell that she'd done very well; aside from maths, all her exams turned out "very good". Am very pleased. Waiting for Ági still, who's still having exams as far as the middle of next week. These two were the closest to me, I hope they have both done well.

Went to the cemetery with Mum today. It's really far from our flat, but this time, I didn't mind. The long walk did me good, and even my kneecap behaved. Actually, it doesn't mind long walks. It just doesn't like stairs, apparently. Especially if I have to descend said stairs. Weird.

Okay, that was enough randomness. More when there's actually happening something. Until then, back to writing, posting and typing up.

Hurray for summer break!!! Do enjoy it! Macht Spass!

About the Atkins Diet: I wish you well with losing weight (just got a reminder from my nurse practitioner I need to do likewise). However, be careful about the heavy protein load, as it can strain the kidneys. More meat tends to mean more animal fat, which is bad for the cholesterol, so think beans and lean proteins. One also needs whole grains for their fiber and nutrients: brown rice and whole wheat bread are good, low-calorie choices that can be low-fat if one is careful about what one puts on them. Good luck!

Oh, I don't eat all the crap that they tell me to eat. I ate slightly more meat than before during the first week, but not overly so, and most certainly not all the grilled and roasted versions. Now I'm back to my usual meat and diary product levels (I never got above those to begin with), I just stopped eating white bread and all the tasty cookies and sweets and stuff. Also, I eat more salad than before and try to calculate the carb levels, so that I keep them low. Otherwise, I eat normally.

Losing weight is good, but not when one damages vital organs by doing so, therefore I'm really careful. But so far, the thing seems to work, even without the excess protein and stuff - I feel lighter and more mobile, and Mum says I look different, too. Weight control comes on the end of the month - I see no reason in hopping onto the thing each day and then despairing that it doesn't go as fast as I would like it.
