I've decided to give IJ a trial run re: tags, hand-coding and stuff. For that purpose, I've just posted Part 01 of my very first Criminal Mind fic, "A Touch of the Wild", to my IJ.

The hand-coding thingie seems to function, despite my in-born idiocy when it comes to everything even remotely technical. As I decided not to post this particular story to FF.Net or LJ as long as it isn't finished, this is the only place you can take a peak, in the rather unlikely case you'd be interested.

Oh, and before you send the lynch mob my way, the actual CM characters will only appear in Part 02 - which is already written and only waiting to be typed up.

Yeah, I know, the last thing I needed was another fandom, especially as I didn1t even like the show at first. But AXN is running it five days a week, and while their cases still gross me out, I've grown very fond of the characters, especially Spencer Reid.

I've just approved your request, and yes, I do tag the recs, but the only Criminal Minds one right now probably won't be your choice.

Reid character fic would be terrific indeed. I'll keep searching, and if I find one, I'll add it. Morgan/Garcia fics are in great amounts on FF.Net, but I for myself like them better as friends who flirt shamelessly while have different partners for the other thing.

I'm particular towards Kevin, too, because he's played by the same guy who used to play Xander on Buffy, and besides, nerdy geek romance is a thing of beauty, isn't it?

Yeah, was quite nice to see Nicholas Brendon pop up and then to be a recurring character. :)

I suspect the type of Garcia/Morgan fic I'd enjoy may be few and far between - I imagine most of it is just pure fluff and banter only. Is there much Garcia/Kevin about you've seen?

Not really, but I found this very nice, Reid-centered teamfic (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4762717/1/Every_New_Beginning). I won't add it to the rec site just now, in fear that it'll turn out as some wangsty h/c stuff in the end. But if it's still good when it's finished, I'll add it.

BTW, are you a McGyver fan, too?

Ooh, cool will check that out.

I've actually never watched McGyver (but the general idea of the show is infamous) - I've got it down as one of those classic shows I must rent sometime, whenever my rental service adds them. Strangely I've never noticed repeats of it on UK tv.

McGyver is great fun. Some of the solutions are absolutely ridiculous, of course, and the US attitude towards the countries behind the Iron Curtain show through sometimes too visibly (like gypsies as the misunderstood minority and stuff), but all in all, it's funny, harmless entertainment.

And I really, really liked Richard Dean Anderson as the peace-living, gun-hating, innovative geek. The character is just so different from Col. O'Neill, but RDA's personal humour comes to great effect in both... very pleasant.

I've found a lengthy Morgan/Garcia fic just now, but I won't recommend it. The basic idea is not bad, but the writing is so poor, hurried, the grammar is an insult, even for my foreign ears, and the end is so fluffy it makes my teeth ache. But I'll keep looking for you.

Do I need to say that aforementioned crap has fifty (!) glowing reviews?

I'd heard about the crazy solutions but it does sound quite fun.

Doesn't sounds surprising on the glowing reviews on the fluff.

I was a bit surprised the other day to get a review mentioning how my grammar was okay, as if they expected otherwise. I know my grammar isn't usually wonderful, tending towards poetic license, but for the fandom the person in question would know me from, and the same one as for the reviewed fic, I always had a very wonderful beta who corrected my grammar superbly. Seemed a bit bizarre in that case.

Me, I get picked on my grammar a lot. It's especially annoying when I read something like the abovementioned fic, which is a lot worse grammatically than I was when I was learning English in the first year, and yet those people are never lectioned about how they would need at least spell check.

Do give McGyver a try, though. RDA is great, and his hairdo is beyond ridiculous in that show.
