Perfect timing - not!

Am sick like a dog again. Have been for four days already... barking like an asthmatic dog, no sleep all night because of said barking, being dim-witted from the lack of sleep all day.

Why couldn't it happen during school time? I so hoped that I would come to a little rest during these holidays, but with no sleep, it's kinda hard to achieve.

Well, at least is spared me the trip to the cemetery so far. Even Mum agrees that leaving the flat isn't an issue right now. I still hate it, though.

Barking like a dog to get out of the cemetery trip? That's a new and clever ploy. Unfortunately, it requires you to actually *be* miserable, so I think we shall have to come up with a better plan. Also, we must work on the timing: you are supposed to be home sick from work AFTER the Something arrives, as you will need a couple days to, um, appreciate it properly.

We've had a little family crisis that has taken some time and energy, but I expect to get to the Post Office with the other presents tomorrow. And I'm looking forward to FINALLY indulging myself in a Halabor marathon! I hope you feel much better Real Soon, so you can enjoy the rest of your holiday break. Family crisis? Oh, my, I hope everything is all right!

As for the Halabor marathon, don't worry, it will wait for you patiently. I'm very curious what you'll say to it - it has so much to do with original fiction, aside from the ending and a few familiar names, that it's perhaps more the Beloved's thing than yours. Although it's possible that he'd be screaming in pain at the probably completely foolish consequences I've pulled from my research. *g*

True. The timing annoys the hell out of me. I've so hoped that I'd get to places other than school during the holidays. You know, such exotic places like the English bookstore, that is, unfortunately, in a far-away corner of the city, so that I just can't manage to get there during working days. But noooo, I had to "celebrate" with being sick - again!

Getting sick seems particularly unfair when one is on holiday, but I suspect it isn't accidental - as we relax, our body says "Yay! Downtime, I can indulge".

Actually, we have *lots* of snow this year - more than in the last five years or so counted together. It's a beautiful sight, when all you have to do is to look at it from the window of a warm chamber, which I can do, as I'm on sick leave. But that also means that Mum has to go out to shop for groceries, and I really don't like the thought of her slipping...

We get the slippy icy pavements here in winter, or we did in Maffra where the pavements are concrete; here in Newry you just walk on the grass which isn't as slippery! Hope Mum managed the shopping ok.

The snow would be lovely looking out a window at everything white and pretty..

It is, indeed. I love snow - I just hate icy pavements. Fortunately, they strew it with sand or salt often enough, but even so...

Well, I can't tell you ahead of time what they want, but he'll be in for the experience of his life - and it will be nothing too bad, I promise. I do have a soft spot for him. I've always had, long before the (otherwise despised) movies showed me what a great guy Boromir was.

And now that I've found my own visuals for him (Orlando in Kingdom of Heaven), I love him even more. Faramir, I mean. Now if I could only find my own Éowyn, that would be great.

It certainly was nothing bad, but I'd have never guessed. Now, you know, that's one thing the LoTR movies did for me: made me like Aragorn and Boromir. I used to hate both of them, now I quite like them!

It's interesting how differently people react to movie characters. The movie made me love Boromir, whom I didn't like before, and it made me hate Aragorn, whom I used to like very much. It also completely ruined Elrond and Galadriel for me.

I didn't mind Elrond or Galadriel. I really liked seeing Elrond in the Last Alliance actually and loved Rivendell and Lorien. Frodo pissed me off in the movies, he was a whinner like that in the books, plus he was too young.

I think Aragorn became human to me in the movies. In the books he somehow seemed like a mythical hero, not a person. Boromir, well, I've already said I used to hate him, and now I don't. I guess that's what's fun about movies, how we all react differently to them.

You see, that was my problem with Aragorn exactly. As long as he was a mythical hero, I could accept the necessity for Denethor & family to step down and vacate the throne for him. As soon as I saw this "Woe me, I'll have to become King" loser in the movies, I switched sides and declared the Steward's family the rightful leaders.

I'm bravely drinking tea, although I hate the stuff like the plague. Fortunately, we've got some "Rosenblüten und Hibiscus" tea, which doesn't contain, you know, actual tea, so I'm able to drink it. With honey *brrrrr*, and lemon juice.

For some reason or other illnesses come when they are least wanted. As my grandmother says, "one is never ill when one has time for one never has time to be ill". Just try telling that to the bugs though.
