Took me long enough. This story is really hard to translate, as the first five chapters are basically nothing else than character background and character dynamics - which is probably the reason why the story has so few readers. I can understand that most people find that sort of stuff boring. I don't, but that's my own perversion, most likely.
On the other hand, of course, "The Joy Machine" is the first episode of the "Lost Years" series, and thus all these facts need to be laid down for the upcoming 30+ episodes. But with this chapter, I finally could start the action part. Even though they still don't do anything else but long-range scans and concerned briefings. Chapter is up at
otherworlds_lib and FF.Net.
Between this story and "The Lost Warrior", I've actually overdone NaNoWriMo requirements already... I just started a bit early. Besides, if I had to write 50,000 words in a month, I wouldn't even manage 500. My muse doesn't like being pressured.
In any case, I'm content with my achievement. If people don't read it, it's their loss.
