Economic cooking

... was done by Mum today. We had three moderately germinating potatoes that needed to be processed, so we decided that Kartoffelauflauf was the needful thing to make. Namely, the boiled and sliced potatoes, a hard-boiled and sliced eggs, the remains of yesterday's boiled pasta and grated case and some leftover creme freche that was approaching to its "best before" date were mixed on some butter and seasoned with a pinch of salt. Mmmm... yummy but very filling, so we weren't able to eat the whole thing. Tomorrow I'll make tomato soup (from the bag) to it, which will take me about ten minutes, and lunch will be cared for.
Which is a good thing, as tomorrow I'll start to work on my to-do list, right with going to "The Office"(TM) to deal with some inevitable bureaucratic stuff that I can't even describe in English and won't be able to do on my own. *sigh* Wish me luck, people!
So, since Mum did the cooking (okay, I boiled the potatoes, but that wasn't really complicated or time-consuming), I had most of the morning for myself and worked a bit on the rag doll boy's trousers. It looks really neat now, with the two identical back pockets and some (but not all) cross-grain seaming added. It is slow process, but I don't really mind.
In the early afternoon we watched "The Repair Shop" and "Salvage Hunters", and I even managed some crossword puzzles, a tiny bit of writing and a short nap. Later on I re-read some of my older short stories and went on with the decluttering campaign: I've sorted out three shelves of my desk (it's a fairly big one with lots of storage space). Next up: the three drawers on the right side of samesome desk. This promises to be a long campaign.
