... was done by Mum today. We had three moderately germinating potatoes that needed to be processed, so we decided that Kartoffelauflauf was the needful thing to make. Namely, the boiled and sliced potatoes, a hard-boiled and sliced eggs, the remains of yesterday's boiled pasta and grated case and some leftover creme freche that was approaching to its "best before" date were mixed on some butter and seasoned with a pinch of salt. Mmmm... yummy but very filling, so we weren't able to eat the whole thing. Tomorrow I'll make tomato soup (from the bag) to it, which will take me about ten minutes, and lunch will be cared for.

Which is a good thing, as tomorrow I'll start to work on my to-do list, right with going to "The Office"(TM) to deal with some inevitable bureaucratic stuff that I can't even describe in English and won't be able to do on my own. *sigh* Wish me luck, people!

So, since Mum did the cooking (okay, I boiled the potatoes, but that wasn't really complicated or time-consuming), I had most of the morning for myself and worked a bit on the rag doll boy's trousers. It looks really neat now, with the two identical back pockets and some (but not all) cross-grain seaming added. It is slow process, but I don't really mind.

In the early afternoon we watched "The Repair Shop" and "Salvage Hunters", and I even managed some crossword puzzles, a tiny bit of writing and a short nap. Later on I re-read some of my older short stories and went on with the decluttering campaign: I've sorted out three shelves of my desk (it's a fairly big one with lots of storage space). Next up: the three drawers on the right side of samesome desk. This promises to be a long campaign.

Not having to cook something complicated is a blessing.

The potato dish sounds like a wonderful comfort food, yum. Good luck with your trip to "The Office".

We have been going through several changes in savings and insurance companies and I hate navigating through these changes. Like you, I have been trying to sort and Declutter and have been feeling like I am tackling a mountain with a teaspoon. We're leaving on a trip soon so I am largely preoccupied with getting things together for that and taking minimal items to fit in one carry on and a backpack for a two week trip.
I look every day for your Christmas card:) I doubt mine has reached you yet either! Next year I should send it at least a month early!

Have fun with the crafting and writing. I will be reading Maiden Voyage on the trip.
Happy New Year my friend!

We're on a ship from Miami, stopping for sightseeing at Nassau and Cozumel and the Virgin Islands! I look forward to sitting in the sun and watching the ocean and drinking some tropical drinks 😊
It's very cold here. Sub zero wind chills. We are wearing lots of layers for walking around the neighborhood for our walks. Brrr❄️❄️❄️❄️

You're keeping very busy, which is good as far as I'm concerned. I'm getting back to my usual activities, and made a filling dish today of potatoes, ground beef and cheese all baked in the oven. It was supposed to contain tomato sauce as well, but I forgot it, so added ketchup later. It was better than it sounds.

Well, as you'll see in the next entry, I wasn't very lucky, after all.

Your entry makes me think that making my own to- do list is inevitable.

It is necessary for me because I have a memory like a kitchen sieve... at least where the practical side of life is concerned. Impractical and trivial things I can remember for decades. *sigh*
