... and some much-needed relief.

So, I made another trip to the government office to have Mum's regular medicine support redirected to postal delivery. This time with an official empowerment and half a dozen earlier documents I thought might be needed. The clerk studied the documents, and then told me that this particular senior citizen support doesn't belong to their jurisdiction but that of the metropolitan government. When I asked why didn't they tell me that last time, she said I hadn't told them what sort of support I wanted to redirect. I could have asked how was I supposed to know that there were different versions belonging to different authorities, but that wouldn't have taken me anywhere, and besides, I was too angry by then.

It is maddening that in today's computerized world two official authorities can't cooperate in such simple things. Why on Earth couldn't they send each other a message about what's needed and let the other one deal with it? Now I'll have to go to the district commune, which is a nightmare, just to have that small sum of money (the equivalent of about 350 Euros a year) delivered by postal service instead of being transferred to Mum's bank account that no longer exists.

According to previous experience that will take me half a day... if I'm very, very lucky.

To add insult to injury, when I left the government office at 9am, the torrent rain promised for 3pm suddenly arrived. I did have an umbrella with me, but by the time I reached the tram stop (roughly 100 metres from the government office) I was soaked to my very skin. My sandals gave funny, squelching noises, and when I got home I had to scrub mud from my toenails. I kid you not!

Despite the rain, I didn't give up my original plan of going to the craft supply discounter and did some comfort shopping, spending way more money than originally intended. Now I have chenille wires in the most lovely, striped hues, and lots of wooden beads that will serve as heads and hands of various handmade puppets. I think I've covered my needs for years in that area but hell, I needed something to cheer me up! Being the fool that I am, I also managed to buy a craft punch that I already had, but I'll gift that one on my friend Evie to play with her oldest grandson.

At least the weather had a major change today. Temperatures dropped by some 15 degrees, and we can breathe again. For the first time in two months, tonight I'll be able to use a proper pillow. It is still raining, mildly and quietly, which will be a true blessing for the fields and gardens. It was long overdue, and it's great that we have regular rain instead of quick downpours. The soil needs to be soaked.

I wouldn't call it "fine", but otherwise you're correct. *g*
