Going out (of the day) with a whimper

Today was shower day for Mum. She skimmied out of the exercise for a few days, claiming a tearing in her joints (which was true), but today we finally did it.
Then we went to the playground nearby, where I parked Mum (her knee was acting up, so getting there was a feat in itself) and went to Lidl to do the shopping I skipped yesterday. Stupid me. But at least I found chanterelles, which is an extremely rare thing. They were accordingly (quite ridiculously) expensive but I didn't care. Chanterelles were an integral part of my early childhood - they were the only kind of mushrooms we could get while living in Transylvania - and we both love them dearly.
Unfortunately, that meant cooking today, which wasn't originally planned. And by the time all this got done, it was 2.30pm already. And 33°C. Needless to say that I was of no use for anything in the afternoon. Especially as we had laundry day, too! Save for taking a lengthy nap, that is.
In the early evening I managed to make half a stitched star before watching some telly. It is a somewhat complicated pattern I never did before but I think I've figured it out. Of course, If I hadn't mistakenly left off part of the pattern while pre-prickling the motif it would have been earlier.
Okay, dead now, with a swimming vision and the beginning of a headache so I'll have to go offline, soon. *sigh*
