... as of today that means 67. Not that it would bother me. I don't feel old, despite being tired all the time. I count my blessings: a clear mind, a more or less good health, a roof over my head, Mum to share all that with me (and still in a relatively good shape), a country that at least still enjoys peace... it could be so much worse! In fact, for a great many people all around the globe it is a lot worse, so I always feel ashamed when I realize I've been whining again for some small thing. Hereby I promise to do better in the future - or, at the very least, try!

In that spirit, I went to school today, where Erna, our art teacher, runs a crafting workshop for interested upper primary pupils on Monday afternoons. The kids did needle felting, I spent the time to wrap 28 toilet rolls into leftover snatches of Christmas paper. They will serve as little boxes for the surprise gifts on the Christmas fair. That isn't even half of them (and I still don't know what I'm gonna put into them, as every one is supposed to be a winner), but that was all I could do in an hour and a half. To be continued...

Visiting school also has the advantage to meet my (former) colleagues whom I (mostly) liked a lot. So it was also a piece of social life, sadly missed since Covid first attacked us.

I had four phone calls today; two from family and two from Mum's friends. My friends congratulated me last Saturday, when we had the party, so that's okay. All in all, it was a pleasant day.

Don't fret, I am hard on your heels concerning age! And it is your right to complain and whine (and mine, too)!

Perhaps. I still think I've got an easy life, compared with most people.

Thank you! :) (Personally, I hate wine, but getting better with age sounds good. *g*)

Thank you! It's good to see you back online again. Yesterday (or the day before?) when I got the alert to 14 comments from you, it was the best birthday gift, ever!

School is a nice place when one doesn't have to plague oneself with all those kids. *g*

Thank you so much! And you aren't late — my Granny always said that good wishes are valid within eight days.

Thanks, Finch! It's so good to hear from you again. How is life treating you? And how are the young ladies doing?

So far, so good; being a pensioner is just sedate enough to my taste. I've got a slight meniscus problem in my right knee, but that just means I need to be careful walking down the stairs. The young ladies are both doing very well: Valerie works for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was stationed at the Dutch Embassy in Indonesia this summer. Larissa is employed at the Universiity of Wageningen and working on a book about the university's colonial involvement. In addition, she is an enthusiastic cat mom. And when she and her partner Wouter are away on vacation, I'm employed as a cat-sitter.

Best wishes to your Mum!

Thank you kindly! :) Getting old isn't a bad thing as long as one is in such a relatively good shape. *knocking on wood*
