Basically, it's about the wedding rites between same-sex couples in the early medieval Church.

I find it intriguing. But again, I'm a weird, weird person.

That is fascinating. (And a very nice title for your post, too *g*) I wish today's Church could be as progressive as it was twelve hundred years ago...

I must weird too. I found the article fascinating. The churches may have to do an embarressing back flip on gay marriage if the truth becomes common knowledge!

One thing I like about this is that it goes directly against the idea that human development is a steady march forward. That the past was mostly dark and backward. That, say, the 19th century was by definiton more advanced than the 12th. That the Church was always repressive. (You see this in women's history, too. In several respects, 12th century women had more freedom than women in the Victorian age, but few people know this.)
