I think I've alredy linked to this on Edhellond. But probably other people would be interested in it, too.

Basically, it's about the wedding rites between same-sex couples in the early medieval Church.

I find it intriguing. But again, I'm a weird, weird person.

That is fascinating. (And a very nice title for your post, too *g*) I wish today's Church could be as progressive as it was twelve hundred years ago...

Gives a whole new perspective to the "Ewwwwwww, slash!!!" discussions on various forums, doesn't it?

I've just discovered this article a short time ago, as someone linked to it from the Axe&Bow list.

I must weird too. I found the article fascinating. The churches may have to do an embarressing back flip on gay marriage if the truth becomes common knowledge!

Oh, the Church has a centuries-long tradition in denying the truth, don't worry about them.

Yes, some of the reading I've done has made me aware of that. It's a pity, for I think more people would go back to the Church if they were convinced of that organisation's honesty!

One thing I like about this is that it goes directly against the idea that human development is a steady march forward. That the past was mostly dark and backward. That, say, the 19th century was by definiton more advanced than the 12th. That the Church was always repressive. (You see this in women's history, too. In several respects, 12th century women had more freedom than women in the Victorian age, but few people know this.)

Thanks for the link!

You are welcome.
I think especially the theological aspects would be fascinating... if I only had more time to think about them.
