My wonderful beta sent me the next chapter of Alternate Caretaker last night, but I'm holding it back for a few days to allow people to read Kansas first.

Oh, and I'm apparently made into the semi-finals of the Mithrils. Go figure. That's the farthest I've ever got in any awards. My hopes for further headway are moderate, to put it mildly, but even this makes me feel a little better. It seems that posting those two fics to the Stories of Arda has paid out.

Best Other Races and Best Men? I put in a nomination for the first one myself. I'm really pleased that it got through to stage 2 :)

Yep. Face of the Enemy also got nominated in the category of Best action/adventure - I think it was erunyauve. I love you guys. Even if they won't make any further, the fact that they got so far might move me out of my pariah status in the LOTR-fandom. Not an easy thing when one mainly posts to ff.net. It's considered unworthy in elated fancircles.

Yes, I think it is a good thing; some new reader will become interested by seeing your name on the list, or will see it another context and think, 'Ah, this author did well in the Mithrils. Maybe I'll check them out.' It can't hurt your reputation, anyway :)

Which reputation? If I have one at all, it couldn't be very flattering. I'm a contrary, with strong opinions, and can't be tucked into any of those comfortably tight little categories. That makes people generally awkward around me, both in RL and online.

But that's nothing new. After almost fifty years on this planet, I'm slowly getting used to it. *shrughs*
