Well, hard to believe, I know, but I've actually managed to finish chapter 12 of "Kansas". Here:

http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1791644&chapter=12

There is a great deal of dialogue that is actually quoted from the episode, but I stated that in the A/N's, so hopefully the idiots will leave me alone this time.

Other than that, there is some Ayala-Garibaldi friendship, Chakotay almost gets cold feet on his date, and Rastenn leaves Babylon 5.

*waves hi*

I know I fangirled your Mirkwood stories (er, between all the 'OMGWTF that's YOU???' stuff), but I don't think I said anything about this story. I should have done, because I've been reading it for quite a while now, and despite hardly knowing anything about Voyager, I'm really enjoying it. Your warrior caste Minbari are far more interesting than the ones who usually turn up in fanfic (and canon, a lot of the time... *sigh*), who just snarl a lot and try to kill people and do nothing else.

You can probably guess how much I was giggling over the bonecrest conversation, as well :)

Fangirling is always good for the battered ego. *g*
I had no idea you are reading "Kansas", though. *feels proud*

It's unbelievable, but true: the Marcus/Neroon stories made me interested in Warrior Caste Minbari. I think the fact that I like Klingons, too, explains a little my interest. They are a complex people, too.

Actually, way back, in the Dark Ages, when Roddenberry considered to make a second Trek series with the original characters (Kirk&Co), there was a script titled "Kitumba", written by John Meredyth Lucas, in which we'd have learned that "Klingon" is merely the name of the warrior caste (no kidding!). The other two castes were called the "Technos" (scientists, ingenieurs, that sort of folks) and the "Subjects" (who basically did all the dirty work). Interesting,eh?

As for my Minbari warriors, Rastenn will return to B5 later. I plan something between him and B'Elanna Torres, if the plotcritters agree. (FYI: plotcritters are basically the same thing as plotbunnies, just smaller and more insistent). The folks on the Memory Alpha list want me to keep Voyager a little longer on B5, maybe to the end of the Shadow War or even longer, but I haven't decided yet.

Stupid me!

I forgot to add that the bonecrest conversation was definitely inspired by that particular tread on the Chaos Citadel forum. Or was thet GAFF? I don't remember anymore.

I think it was on Chaos Citadel. We must have confused quite a lot of people who don't know the fandom with that one, heh heh heh. ("Okay, they're talking about bone, but... with sensation in it? Or, well, not. And why are they finding this so funny? Wait - what blue patches where?")

Glad to hear Rastenn will be back - I liked him, and it's also nice for Vir to get anything close to a friend. The Minbari Warrior caste are interesting, and it's a pity so many fic writers have them being simplistic and angry. Well, okay, they are angry, but they've got good reasons for that. They're very under-appreciated. (I'm trying to write fic which deals with how the Warrior caste felt about the Earth/Minbari war and the surrender order, and I'm finding myself to be quite a warrior caste fan...)

That's an interesting point about the idea for Klingon society. Hmm. Did they ever do anything with that in existing Trek series? My knowledge of Star Trek is pretty poor, but I do remember liking the Klingons. And that episode... er, it was either Trials And Tribbleations or The Trouble With Tribbles, where the DS9 people went back to the original Trek series, and you saw one of the early Klingons. "Worf, what happened?" "We don't talk about it."

Would you mind if I Friended you?

The blue patches thingy is cool. I think I'll have to give one of our Warriors some action. Maybe with B'Elanna Torres (you know, the half-Klingon woman who is uncomfortable with her Klingon half). I just don't know which one to choose. Rastenn is probably too young, and Neroon will have more important things on his mind. Although Rastenn is already quite smitten, so... we'll see.

You *are* aware of the fact that we still have to write the Rotten Flarn Fic(TM) and cure the B56-universe from the Drakh Plague with it, of course? That's one fic that begs to be written. Maybe we should do it together. Let the Excalibur stuck at B5 for repairs, Dr. Franklin stuck in Isolab, Dr. Sarah Chambers taking over the MedLabs and frightening everyone to death with her martial arts skills... but I digress.

I'm afraid they never picked up that idea about the Klingon caste system. I like the Klingons, too, but they made their whole society much too... well, uniformized. And their obsession with honour...

Actually, I'm planning to point out the similarity between the
Minbari Warrior Caste and the Klingons in "Kansas". I intend to have a scene where Harry and B'Elanna are watching the fight between Marcus and Neroon through a security camera (because they have bugged Marcus) and B'Elanna making a snarky remark about how the Warrior Caste is "worse than even Klingons". *g*

Go and friend away, if you like. I'm willing to friend you back, if you aren't afraid to be exposed to my inane ramblings and hissy fits. At my age, they are qute frequent, I'm afraid. Even without the oversized yet still too fragile ego of a fanfic writer. ;)

Drat, I've just realized that I had talked about Rastenn/B'Elanna already. Forgive me - I've been very distracted lately.

*giggles* That sounds like a good idea. As does B'Elanna and Rastenn... which could provide the opportunity for the same kind of conversation, come to think of it.

And we really do have to write that fic, don't we? I still think it needs a Minbari Mary Sue, complete with colour-changing hair - er, headbone - and magical Mary Sue powers.

*friends you* And about 90% of my LJ is inane ramblings and hissy fits, so I'd be in no place to judge anyway ;)

Yeah, bat'leth against denn'bok - I wonder who would win? And since it's part of the Klingon ritual that the female throws heavy objects at the male while the latter recites love poetry to her, and, as Worf put once, "ducks a lot", Rastenn could be up against the challenge of his life. *g*

I dare to disagree in this point. A Minbari-Sue must be very different from your average Sue. Maybe a priestess from the Order of Valeria, who looks all serene and simple but does have divine visions? Maybe telepathic, or empathic, too? I can't imagine a Sue with the usual stupid, fangirl traits as a Minbari.

Wait, I have it! A priestess, all holy and enigmatic, who, in her constant divine haze of mind forgets to finish the flarn! And, of course, she must say deeper and even less understandable things than Galen does on Crusade. Yep, we definitely have to write this.

*friends you back*

O yeah, a lot of fun! So, how are we going to do it? I know of people who emailed the chapters back and forth between each other for weeks before posting the finished story to ff.net.

Or, we could write the whole thing on LJ.

I think e-mail would be best, if that's okay with you. I'm not too familiar with Crusade, though - just an advance notice, in case I completely mess up canon facts...

I haven't co-written anything since an angsty Mary Sue epic when I was 17. It will be fun to write something good!

I haven't co-written anything in my whole life yet. The closest thing was when we developed some ideas for a hilarious Star Trek-TNG series with S. Duncan, who was at that time chairwoman of the Hungarian Star Trek Club.

There are not many canon facts we can mess up with Crusade, actually. The basics are on the Lurker's Guide website, while the episode synopses can be read on the epigudes.com website.

And yeah, I'm looking forward to the whole thing myself. *g*
