Easter eggs 01

I hope you all had a peaceful and pleasant day, as far as it is possible in these times.
We had a somewhat religious morning, as we first watched the Evangelsicher Ostergottesdienst on German tv, and then the High Mass with the archbishop of Esztergom on Hungarian tv. I definitely preferred the former one, although the archbishop wasn't that bad, either. I like the way he celebrates Mass.

Mum volunteered to cook today, so I could do some translations (not enough by far, but at least some), talked to my cousin's wife on the phone and lazed around a bit. Not a very productive day, but it's Easter Sunday, after all, righ?

We always cook for at least for two days - mostly due to necessity, as it's not easy to cook little enough for only two people. But we don't mind; the less slave labour in the kitchen the better. Except for festive occasions, *g*

I am in the same situation, cooking for just the two of us, it has taken me years to stop cooking meals large enough for the family:) Most meals, though, I make enough to have enough for two meals, as you do. I love it when the meal is already prepared on the second day!

Easter Greetings to you, too.

I watched a service from Bangor cathedral on the BBC - the readings and prayers were filmed in the empty building and the hymns were from a previous Easter service recorded there - it was a good service.

I miss our Easter Tree at church. I think I have a picture somewhere - I must look!

Love the closeup picture of your egg tree. The eggs are truly beautiful!

Easter was a blessed day for us in more ways than one. The predicted storm with the likelihood of damaging winds, hail and tornadoes was downgraded from an enhanced to a marginal risk, a load off my mind! In actuality, we had brisk but not gusty, winds ( a delight) and one or two heavy downpours. For Easter lunch and dinner, we had shrimp stew over rice, (courtesy of the saved freezer contents) with crackers instead of French bread, served on my parent's Lenox china. The service plate of the china is off-white with a wide pastel, grey-blue band around the rim, a perfect color for Easter. The table centerpiece was simple, a lone Gerber daisy from the garden in a vase, with a printed Happy Easter picture on an easel --- all make do. It was just me, Ryan and Bobby at the table. We sent Happy Easter texts to the rest of the family instead of dining together since we are all social distancing.

Glad you and your Mum had a quiet, relaxing Easter Sunday.

Peace and goodwill,

Mira

I'm glad to hear that the storm wasn't as bad as expected. We've had lovely weather until now, but tomorrow temperatures are said to drop by ten degrees (Celsius), and we had some really strong wind just an hour ago. It's peaceful now, but who knows what will come yet.

Happy Easter! We watched Mass on TV from the National Shrine in Washington, D.C., which is right next to the dorm I lived in during my senior year of college. They televise Mass from the Crypt Church, which is below the main floor, and I love seeing it. When I was in college I used to go to the "half-Latin" Mass there--most of it was in Latin, as much as was permitted at the time, but the homily and a few other bits were still in English.

Pom jumped up, first on my lap, then on TODS's, and watched the Mass with us. He was very quiet, as if to say, "I am a good and holy cat!" Then he fell asleep during the homily.

Later I made a turkey and we had some very nice wine with it. We also talked to our parents on the phone--they are both in assisted living, both in lockdown because of the virus.

Good and holy cats aren't the only ones to fall asleep during the homily. It nearly happened to me a few times - and I wasn't even watching Mass on tv. It would have been really embarrassing...
