Second impression and a busy day
Oct. 14th, 2019 06:23 pmToday I was on the 2nd practice with the new choir, and I still like it. I still wish there were at least a few of them closer to my age than Mum's, but other than that, it's a nice bunch. They even sang me a song - belatedly - for my birthday, and I'm the greenest newbie! G. the choir leader, apparently cares very much for team-building, and since the ladies (and few gentlemen) do have the time, nothing is hurried. It is very different from my main choir, where we're always full of stress - even though we might be a tad more professional.
Anyway, it appears to be a very active bunch. We'll have three different gigs in the next 30 or so days, and the repertoire is fairly rich. I've spent the last hour and half with printing out note sheets; I've got a lot to catch up with. But I don't mind. Singen beflügelt die Seele, as the Germans would say (sorry, no idea how to say it in English), and the fact that I have another chance to exercise my vocal cords is a bonus. Of course, I've realized that my voice seems to recover a bit since I don't have to yell at the school yard by any weather...
I've also decided to do something for my poor, tortured joints, aka to lose some weight. A former colleague of mine suggested the short-time fasting method, with which she's lost 21 kgs since April - not a small feat. Basically, you don't eat anything 16 hours long each day; in the remaining 8 hours you can eat what you want. I've started last night. I stop eating at 1900 - which is not so bad, even though I'm up till midnight or longer, as a rule. Since I usually get up around 08:00, that means I've already managed most of the fasting time by then, and holding out until 11:00 hopefully won't be so hard.
Other than that, I've continued planning out the "Doll House" quiet book for Lena, finished Chapter 33 of Kansas 2 and started Chapter 34 and solved half a dozen crossword puzzles in German. I think I can call it a well-spent day.
