And I mean really, really hot. Over 30°C, which can happen in June, but the main problem is that these weather changes are so sudden. One cannot gradually prepare oneself for summer, it's just here, without warning. Well, at least it doesn't make the balcony leak, so that's something.

I don't bear heat easily. Never did, and the older I get the more I suffer from it. So I haven't done much today, save for a bit of rearranging my craft things in the corner cupboard, making the basic shape of the replacement baby journal - on of those very easy ones where you basically put some envelopes into each other and glue them together - and watching lots of TV. RTL2 held a Trödeltrupp marathon to honour the holiday, although I can't really see the connection between the Holy Spirit and second-hand trade. But I guess they knew that people simply like the program (I certainly do) and are willing to watch re-runs all day (I certainly did).

Fortunately, we didn't have to cook today, as we had some leftover soup and asparagus quiche and a chunk of cheesecake, so it was okay. Tomorrow will be another matter entirely. I'll have to go to school, as the eggs we regularly order from a chicken farm will (hopefully) arrive, and I'll have to shop for groceries again, which promises to be a real battle. Before and after a three-day-holiday (during which the shops are closed) most Hungarian people suddenly become afraid of starving and the food shops make me think of the food riots mentioned in Babylon 5. Plus, I'll have a student and the new cleaning lady is coming to discuss things with us, so it will be a very busy day. By temperatures beyond 30°C. Joy. Not.

At least I managed to write another scene for the latest Kansas 2 chapter and even typed it up in an heroic effort of willpower. That should count for something, right? If I could cough up another filler scene during this week, Chapter 29 would be finished. *fingers crossed*

I will think cool thoughts for you. I hope that you won't have to deal with it too long.

Thanks. Summer is always quite hot over here, and living in a concrete building doesn't help. We are used to it, but it still isn't pleasant.

I just hope that it'll be cooler than you think it will be. Us, too.

Well, it is still better than the violent storms currently haunting Germany, so I try not to be ungrateful.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the holiday? I usually Google things that idk to avoid looking dumb...

Our weather here this year so far has been odd. A few hot days but mostly rain, rain and more rain.

Oh! Ok. We don't celebrate that at all.

Well, yeah, Hungary used to be a predominantly Catholic country once, and the church holidays were kept out of tradition, I guess.

As mentioned above, still better than the horrible storms poor Germans got in the recent days. But tiring nonetheless.

Here they get like that over the two day Christmas break - goodness knows how some of them would survive (!) if the shops were shut for three days :)

Yeah, I know. People got so used to be able to get their groceries any given day (and I'm not an exception) that they think it's the end of the world when the shops are closed for one Sunday.

We didn't get the storms here at home, it was mostly in the East.
Some events at WGT had to be cancelled on Monday due to the storms, though.

Those temps are comfortable for me, but it is all in what you are used to. I cannot stand the cold and am miserable when winter arrives even though we have what would be considered mild winters. Glad you were able to do some writing!

I hope there'll be more writing-wise, eventually. I've started to type up the first drafts to several new "Dwobbit" chapters - unfortunately, they'll need some serious rewrite, I just wanted to push the plot forward during the latest [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo sessions.
