... and so is death.

One of my elder cousins died yesterday - she was run over by a truck while cycling. She died at once, on the spot. Not her fault, apparently - but how does that help her brother who's really devastated?

I didn't know her well. We've only met a few times and certainly not at all in the last twenty years or so. But she was a kind person, or so those relatives who knew her better say... and she's the first of my own generation to pass over.

That's horrendous. One of my best work friends was killed in the same way some years ago. It was a horrible shock to everyone who knew her.

Sudden death always is. Although perhaps the lesser evil than watch a loved one getting weaker by each new day. My Grandma lasted six months after taking a dall and breaking her thighbone. Those were the longest and most depressing six months of our lives.
