... and so is death.

One of my elder cousins died yesterday - she was run over by a truck while cycling. She died at once, on the spot. Not her fault, apparently - but how does that help her brother who's really devastated?

I didn't know her well. We've only met a few times and certainly not at all in the last twenty years or so. But she was a kind person, or so those relatives who knew her better say... and she's the first of my own generation to pass over.

Wha a tragedy, life really is bizarre. I'm sorry for your and your family's loss.

Thank you. Actually, Mum is a lot more shocked than I am - funnily enough, she had more contact to Cousin M than I, as they both worked for the food industry union. I was hard-pressed to remember her face at all; it was her brother who stayed a bit more in touch.

Yeah, makes sense it would hit her harder. I hope she is handling it as well as can be under the circumstances, hearing it from afar it strikes me as if she's been losing a lot of people lately.

Oh geez ... what a way to die!
I'm sorry for your loss, even if you didn't know her well.

That's horrendous. One of my best work friends was killed in the same way some years ago. It was a horrible shock to everyone who knew her.

Sudden death always is. Although perhaps the lesser evil than watch a loved one getting weaker by each new day. My Grandma lasted six months after taking a dall and breaking her thighbone. Those were the longest and most depressing six months of our lives.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I think sudden death is so much more difficult to deal with.

Actually, I think watching my Grandma die piece by piece during a period of six months was much worse. But yeah, this was shocking.

I am sorry. That realisation that it is someone of your own generation is quite a blow, isn't it ?

I am the last of a threesome of friends from university, and it feels very odd.

I had classmates who died unexpectedly at a much younger age, and I was closer to them. But when it happens within the family it is different, I think.
