Sometimes I am truly bewildered by some people's priorities. I can still remember Mum having major surgery ten years ago and hardly anyone of my so-called friendslist at the time would give a sh*t. (Those who still are on my flist did.) The same people expressed great concern when someone else's cat had an upset stomach or their car got scratched or somesuch. Now, I don't want to trivialise those problems, I am sure they bothered the individual in question a great deal. But why is it that people seem to be fairly indifferent to events that cause great emotional pain for people they call "friends".
The same happened to me in Real Life as well. Repeatedly. Perhaps it's me, after all. Perhaps I was born without the gene that can make most people care for whether I live or die. I'm thinking of taking some semi-drastic steps to lessen my frustration about the thing. Like pruning my flist again and disabling comments on any entry that has none after a week. I'll see. I'm going through a bad phase right now and can't handle much of this at the moment.
Edit: I posted this piece of pathetic whining at work and accidentally disabled comments. My apologies, I didn't want to shut out anyone. Workplace computers are crap.
