It is hot. Mum and I realized that she should have gone to the early mess by this weather - of course, we would have to get up at 6 o'clock for that, and since we are owl-natured, both of us, early rising isn't really our thing.

In any case, I parked her in the church and went to do the rest of the shopping (everything I couldn't drag home yesterday). Then I collected her and we went to Savoya Park - it is a small shopping center only two tram stops from us. There we did the absolute rest of the shopping in the Auchan supermarket and had lunch in one of the self-serving restaurants. We usually do that on Sundays so spare ourselves the cooking in the highest hours of the day... and the washing up afterwards, of course.

I did a little bit of writing for the new Dwarf story, but it doesn't really go anywhere. I lose myself too much in descriptions and unnecessary details. I love that sort of stuff, but I'm afraid most of the readers don't. A shame, really. Ah, well, it's too hot to type up anyway and perhaps doing so tomorrow will bring some much-needed inspiration.

I gave the snowflake pop-up card a try and it turned out decent enough although not entirely what I wanted it to become. It's still pretty, though, I'll post some pics tomorrow.

And finally, the lid of the as-yet unfinished shaker card with the not-working shaker thingie:

The papers are absolutely gorgeous, so I don't really mind the not-shaking lid. I can't finish the box until I've got my hands on a right-sized pine cone and I need to make some tags for it, too. Next week, perhaps. Until then, enjoy the view.

Oooh that turned out very pretty, though! Even if it's a shame about the shaking part not working out - next time, maybe?

I had grand plans today for finally baking that plum pie but ended up not doing much of anything. Ugh. The day went by way too fast.

Don't they all? July is nearly over - where have the last two months gone?

I know the feeling. I used to put pressure on myself in every spare moment because the need to go back to work, soon, always loomed on the horizon. Now, however, that I know I'll only have to work 3 1/2 months after the summer holidays, I find myself much calmer and I can even take my time with things. It's a nice feeling.

You have to get up at 6am for early mass? Ouch. I hear not getting up for that.

Very pretty.

Early mass is at 7.30, but both Mum and I have slowed down considerably in recent years, so we need twice as much time for our mourning routine as we once used to. Not very economical, but that's getting old for you, I'm afraid.

Glad you like my unfinished box. I hope the final version will be just as good.

Getting old is definitely hard.
OTOH, I'm not that old, and 7:30 am would be a big nope for me. :D Luckily I'm in the choir, and we're expected at the 10:30 service.

Oh yes, it is. It belongs to a collection called "The Colours of India", from the German firm Folia and very hard to get here. I had luck that they were available for a short time - outrageously expensive, of course, but I couldn't resist. And then I found another batch in Krems when we were on vacation in Austria earlier in July.
