Theoretically, after having produced and given away 50+ felt Easter eggs, I swore that I won't even touch a needle for at least half a year. But then I learned that the (actually grown) son of a colleague was happy like a kid with his felt bunny, and since he fights heavy depressions and has an upcoming birthday, soon, I made this for him:

This is the final, gift-wrapped version. More pics of the little knight can be seen here:

I also did some paper crafting. Since I bought those very beautiful, very expensive Indian papers a week or two ago, I thought I ought to make something out of it and bring some joy into the life of another beloved colleague.

Beware the India-inspired Kerala box (with the lid closed):

And this is what it looks like when opened:

And a look at the lid from above, just because it's so beautiful and I worked on it so hard:

Granted, it's not perfect; I'm just an amateur, without all the cool tools and make everything free hand, save for the use of a border puncher. The photos are fairly shitty, too - I don't have [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland's blessed hand with a camera and use my iPad, most of the time. Still, I'm very proud of the results, and I hope the recipients will be happy, too.

More substandard photos about the box can bee seen here: *g*

These are amazing. The knight is adorable and the box exquisite. Well done!

Love both of them, you are so talented.

I'm not very good at photographing crafts.

That's still 90 per cent better than my results. I'm rubbish at photographing anything.
I've come to the realisation, though, that it's much easier to take photos of small things with an iPad. A real camera, even with the zoom function, is just too big for them, somehow.

You may call yourself an amator, but your work looks completely professional to me!

Awww, thanks. However, you should see the work of a former colleague of mine who does scrapbooking professionally. You'll notice the difference at once. Of course, I do most of the things free hand, so my things are often lopsided. Sister Richardis, may she rest in peace, used to tell me that I had a knick in my pupils (meaning the eyes, not the students, of course). *g*

I love the little knight, he'd cheer anyone up!

The Kerala Box looks amazing, especially that layered lid. You're so creative in the way you use design and color when you construct them.

The lid was a real b*tch to make. It took me hours to figure out how to make geometrically correct eight-pointed stars and how to turn them to sit perfectly. Well, they don't actually sit perfectly, but I enjoy the pretense. And double-sided puffy tape is a crafter's bestest friend when one wants to make 3-dimensional structures like this.
