I have them every time when a certain author on SoA updates any of their stories. In every single summary of every single story it is empathically told that it is "of course" not slash, "as always".

Now, I understand if someone doesn't like slash. It's a matter of personal taste. I even understand if someone sees it as their personal crusade to fight slash on the principle. It is a matter of personal intolerance.
What I don't understand is why somebody needs to underline that their story isn't slash in an archive that doesn't even allow slash to begin with. That is beyond stupid, IMNSHO.

I could never get myself to read this person's stories. Perhaps they are the best thing after sliced bread (although I doubt it - self-righteous people are rarely creative). But this level of stubborn narrow-mindedness irritates me so much that I might lower myself to making fun of the author in a less than charitable manner, and I don't want to do that.

Oh gawd they sound so dumb and pretentious!

And here I already thought it's pretty stupid when people clearly say in the summary "pairing girl/boy" and then go on about how this is not slash. But on an archive that doesn't even allow it... /join the headdesking

A whole new level of bigotry; one bordering on the pathological, methinks...

Probably a bit of both. SoA is the archive where the antislash crowd feels safe. Nothing wrong with that, I just wish they wouldn't think it makes them better than us, lesser beings.

Quick way to make me pass, since it definitely shows a mindset that will irritate...

As though it's something to be proud of. We've got some of that too--always reminding everyone that they're writing 'true' canon, not like those slashers.

You can make fun of them here :)

Wait. The Archive doesn't allow slash...
and this author is putting a 'no slash' notice on their fic?
the phrase "dumb much?" comes to mind.

That's a little too redundant.
Wondering if _maybe_ the author uses a template that they don't bother changing?!?
But that would mean the story's posted elsewhere, on a site that DOES allow slash, which doesn't make sense either...

I don't think it is a template, as the wording isn't always the same. More likely it is emphasis for their own moral superiority or what the heck.

I once edited for someone who wanted to put that in a story they were planning to post on SOA. I told them it made no sense as the site forbids slash. I have a general note on my site that my stories are friendship pairings.

A general note is completely reasonable. I can also understand a non-slash note on FF,Net. People like to know what they are going to find. But on SoA? It is sinply ridiculois.
