Date: 2003-12-22 04:33 am (UTC)Rivendell *is* beautiful on its own way, I just find it much too decadent. It matches the brooding, Man-hating, fading movie!Elrond (save his warrior days at the beginning), but it's too much "Sezession" for me. While I find the artform decorative, I somehow can't associate it to Tolkien's Elves. Something closer to medieval codex illustrations would be more my idea. But that's a matter of taste, I think.

Date: 2003-12-22 04:56 am (UTC)Um, I think Rivendell was overdone a bit at times, but I loved Frodo's bedroom and the patio they held the ring cousel on. It was mysterious and fey, just like elves though. I guess it's all a matter of taste. I adored Bag End, just as a Hobbit Hole ought to be!

It was made like something the Germans would call "eine üble Spelunke". Sorry, I don't know how to say it in German, maybe Jasta or Finch can translate for you. ;)
