Each year this time, we launch my virtual birthday party, which starts on October 1 and ends on October 9 at midnight, sharp. The goals of the party are to post as many comments and collapse as many threads as possible, on as many new pages as we can. It is always great fun, as you can see if you check out the similar entries of the last few years.

This year, I'll also throw the real party at mid-time - and post the recipes of all the food that will be there for you, so that you can all participate if you want to. Virtual food has no calories.

Fandom-related discussions are as welcome as the ones about coffee or chocolate (just to name a few favourites from previous years), and, of course, pictures and recipes of birthday cakes. ;)

So, drop by, tell your story, post your pics or silly poems, ask questions you always wanted to ask and have a good time!

Soledad, in excited expectation

Oh, and by the way, to provide birthday gifts hobbit-style, I've got a revived story and a Kansas 2 update for you.

Enjoy!

I really wish you can stay for as long as you want to, this time. These seem to be lovely buildings in which to live.

Well, you, me and Mr EA have sailed by on the tram when we went out to that supermarket with the lovely little café near the entrance, so you know where it is. :)

Oh, yes. I work near my home, so I rarely get into the city proper, but I need the knowledge that I could do so easily if I wanted.

Well, we can't know just yet. There's an awful lot of documents to be replaced, too, so she won't even come to work tomorrow, the poor thing.

Aha, double glazing!. I've got that too in most rooms; that's probably why the trains don't bother me too much. Very effective.

I was cheating, actually. The pre-written chapters of the current arc have all been uploaded to FF.Net's Document Manager. All I need to do is to add them to the story. That's doable, even via iPod.

I've started stitching Christmas cards very early this year and have finished a handsome stack already. I've tried out various new patterns, so you'll have something to look forward to. Even if some do have little faults. The new patterns are beautiful, but not always easy. Especially if one doesn't have the real schematics, only printed-out pictures and has to figure out where the stitches are supposed to go.

No 'real' new hobbies of late, but Im currently addicted to the Mahjong butterfly game. For some reason I like the sound of the flapping wings when two butterfly halves become one and fly away.

My Granny was amazing at crocheting: she made doilies of the size of bedlinens out of thin thread one could barely see, before her eyesight failed her. It was her never-ending sorrow that I could never get the hang of it, but I'm simply not made for crocheting. My hands start to sweat, and then the whole thing gets black and disgusting...

I'm not much good at knitting, either. All I ever produced were crooked scarves. Mum did a lot of knitting when she was younger, though. We were fairly poor, and she made me lovely jackets, filled with whatever leftover textiles she could find.

I have started my Christmas cards very early this year, too. As you may be able to guess, from my comment about taking up origami as a new hobby, my Christmas cards this year will be origami ones. So there is something for you to look forward to as well. :-)

Even after living in the UK for eight years, it is still strange to me that 'double glazing' would be something to brag about in an estate agent advert. In Sweden, double glazing is the minimum standard you would expect; a number of the flats I lived in while a student had triple glazing. Other things you would expect to see prominently featured in estate agent adverts would be if the some of the glass panes had special coatings to reduce glare or heat loss.

I'm fairly rubbish at maths, but if I've counted correctly, 5 more top-level comments should catapult us onto Page 4.
Well, since this is one, 4 more would do...

Sorry to hear you have been ill! I hope you are already feeling better; if not best wishes for a speedy recovery. *offers tea and chocolate* (It is a long standing tradition in my family that when you are feeling poorly "a little bit of what you fancy does you good".)

Mahjong butterfly game? I know of Mahjong, but only as a computer game that was included on some version of the Linux operating system that ran on some computer or other that I used to use years ago. Your comment about the sound of flapping wings intrigues me!

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] wiseheart comment on Friday about her Mum's aubergine paste, I bought an aubergine when I was grocery shopping last night; I am now going to go and turn that into dinner!
