Wishlist the new one
Oct. 29th, 2013 04:04 pmBecause I haven't updated these for at least 3 years, and in the meantime many things that were on the old lists have found their way into my possession. *g*
So, let's start with some old stuff I'm still looking for. There were, for starters, the:
Star Trek background books
1. Deep Space Nine Companion by Terry J. Erdmann and Paula M. Block (Paperback)
2. The Star Trek Encyclopedia by Michael Okuda, Denise Okuda, and Debbie Mirek (Paperback - Oct 1, 1999)
3. Star Trek Star Charts: The Complete Atlas of Star Trek by Geoffrey Mandel (Paperback)
4. Star Trek: The Starfleet Survival Guide by David Mack (Paperback)
5. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual by Herman Zimmerman, Rick Sternbach, Doug Drexler, and Ira Steven Behr (Paperback - Oct 1, 1998)
6. The Physics of Star Trek by Stephen Hawking and Lawrence M. Krauss (Paperback - Sep 25, 1996
Still looking for the following outdated books, too:
Yoshitsune by Helen C Mccullough.
This is a companion piece of the "Tale of the Heike", translated by the same author, which I recently got from my dear friend the_wild_iris. Unfortunately, it's an older edition, Amazon is out of it, but I'm known to happily accept second-hand books, as long as they're resonably clean and still in one piece. ;)
Alien Nation - The Day of Descent by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens. These two arent the greatest writers plot-wise, but they do the best world-building ever in their tie-in novels.
Visual media - which, basically, means DVDs in these days. Gotta get the stuff as long as it's available. Don't have the money to switch to BluRay.
Where old sci-fi classics are considered, I'm looking for "Forbidden Planet" and "This Island Earth" - the latter of which is utter crap, I know, but it is a classic. I got last year "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Enemy Mine" in Hamburg, so I'm well equipped in the classic department otherwise.
From classic sci-fi TV, I'm still looking for the original V-The Visitors series. I wasn't terribly impressed by the new version (what little I saw from it), and besides, that one pops up in supermarkets on sale sometimes. And I still haven't found anything beyond Season 1 of Earth - Final Conflict in Region 2 format. Grrrrr!
Poltergeist - The Legacy... starting with Season 2, as I surprisingly found Season 1 in Vienna last time. I only have ages-old taped episodes in German beyond that, and very few of them, too. I'd like the original, especially the episodes with Pater Philip Callaghan, who prominently features in my "Pathwaysˇuniverse. But I'm generally fond of Derek De Lindt, and many of the characters appear in "Pathways", even the recurring ones, so yeah, whatever season I'd get, it'd make me very happy.
Blade - not the movies with Wesley Snipes but the TV-series. I despise the actor who plays Blade in that, but the world-building is amazing, and many of the main/recurring characters are highly interesting.
So, wishlist has grown considerably again, and that still without the extended edition of the first Hobbit film (which will hopefully be available in Hungary), the 3rd season of Sherlock, coming somewhen in the next year, and the second Hobbit film. Also, I still have to list up the books of the DS9 relaunch series that I already have to see which ones I still happen to lack. So, yeah. Long list. But it has been 3 years, right?
