Dear all,

Day 1 of the party has been a great success: 170 comments on 2 pages so far. As agreed, I hereby kick off the second day, so that we won't lose everything like last year, should LJ crash our party again.

Threads of interest can still be commented on, but I ask you to start any new threads here from now on

And now: on with the party!!!

I like a number of Italian (or Italian-American) dishes: lasagna, pizza, all sorts of filled pastas, pesto. Happily, the Beloved has just made a half-dozen jars of pesto from a bumper crop ["a very big harvest" for you non-native speakers] of basil he grew in our small front garden bed this year. We'll be eating it on pasta, on bread, on homemade pizza (one of my specialties) and, to be honest, occasionally straight from the jars, over the winter. Mmmm...

Oh, pesto -- I'd forgotten how much I like it -- my OH detests it, unfortunately.

So I'm not the only one who hates it? That's comforting.

Pesto is exceedingly useful stuff, and pasta is great for quick-and-easy. One of my favourite meals-in-a-hurry is whatever pasta I have to hand with bacon, mushroom, pesto and cream (and some grated Parmesan, of course). Though I confess to being uncouth and using red pepper pesto for that.

You mean red pepper pesto is less posh than the rest? *g*

I'm told it's less "proper" in some way. But it works well for that.
