The first week at school...

wiseheart...was exhausting, above everything else. My working schedule actually isn't that bad - certainly better than last year - and the afternoon group is fairly nice as schoolkids go. It's just the heat wave combined with the days when I have to work long hours. It makes me so tired that when I finally get home, I barely have the strength to do anything at all. Even reading seems too much on certain days.
I guess it's a sure sign that I'm not getting any younger. But that's nothing new, alas.
"Atonement" is a bit stuck in Chapter 9, but it's mostly because I've been writing tiny little chapters of The Fic I Swore I Wouldn't Start Before The Next Decade, aka "Ginger", aka the 13th-Doctor-is-really-Sherlock crossover. Yes, I know. I'm hopeless. But the muse was most insistent.
I've written five extra short parts - between 2 and 4 pages each, whict is extremely short for me, and I expect to write at least another one before we come to the point where Thirteen will have to use the chameleon arch. At which point the story would be put on ice until I figure out whatever I want Sherlock to do before John appears in his life.
I'm vaguely considering using a strongly modified plotline from one of the original Conan Doyle short stories, probably "The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor", to create the first connection between Sherlock and the New Scotland Yard.
We'll see. I don't have any working idea for the moment, but it doesn't really bother me. I want to finish "Atonement" first, for which I at least worked out the story layout, and then I want to return to Elfhelm. Thirteen/Sherlock can wait.
I won't be able to write much in the next fortnight anyway, as teachers adn pupils of our partner school from Germany are coming to visit next Thursday, and then we're gonna be extremely busy with them. *sighs*
In other news, Mum's got another check on her osteoporosis (sp???) and it has got a bit worse during the last five years. She's somewhat crushed, the poor thing, but considering that she doesn't actually suffer from it it isn't that bad. She'll get new medication to keep her bone mass, such as it is, and she must be careful not to fall and mustn't carry heavy weights. The latter is forbidden anyway because of her operation three years ago - I hope she'll be listening better from now on.
