Busy weekend

picowrimo started yesterday, so I'll be mostly over there for the next two months or so - save for the week in Hamburg, that is - as I've volunteered to organise he summer season. It's gonna be fun, as always. My inbox is never so full as during pico time, save for the virtual birthday party. A full inbox is fun. It makes me feel wanted.

Other than that, I made Hefewaffeln mit karamellisiertem Apfelmus today, which means that Mum and I can barely move, although we haven't even managed to eat half of it so far. It's very, very yummy. Tomorrow, there will be asparagus again. The season is short, and right now, the things are reasonably cheap, so we're having asparagus every other day. Also very yummy, with considerably less calories.

Apples with caramel? Mmmmmmm [paused to wipe drool off side of mouth] Does it include cinnamon or some other flavouring?

And asparagus? Yummy indeed. I was late in discovering its pleasures, but now look forward to having it a few times when it's in season.

Yep, cinnamon it is. You melt 2 tablespoons of ordinary sugar in a pot - that is, basically, your caramel - peel and dice 8 apples, throw them in the pot, pour 150 ml apple juice over them, add some cinnamon and cook the things until they are really soft. Then you squash them to puree - a simple fork will do the trick - and eat it with wafers, hot or cold.

I've got some very nifty asparagus recipes I can also share if you're interested. I love asparagus, even if I develop a tennis arm from all that peeling in every season. *g*

Die Hefewaffeln hören sich köstlich an. Wir machen in letzter Zeit schon mal öfter Waffeln, nachdem wir das Waffeleisen jahrelang verstauben ließen, aber Hefewaffeln waren es noch nie. Werd ich auch mal machen! Ein Rezept dafür hab ich, hatte nur nie die Lust, für Waffeln nen Hefeteig anzusetzen.

Bei uns gibt's in den letzten Wochen auch bestimmt jeden zweiten Tag Spargel.

Mein Rezept für Hefewaffeln ist wirklich verblüffend einfach. Natürlich, als ich nach einigen Jahren das Wafeleisen wieder aus dem SChrank geholt hatte und versuchte es aus der Schachtel zu kriegen, der ganze elektrische Teil blieb auf einem Draht hängen. Aber mein Teig war bereits angesetzt und backfertig, so preßte ich das Ding zurück in die Maschine, betete, daß ich keinen Stromschlag kriege, und backte die Waffeln trotzdem. Werde aber nicht nochmal versuchen bevor irgendein Elektriker daran gebastelt hat. Einmal das SChicksal herauszufordern war genug.
