Writing Elvenhome
Feb. 13th, 2012 07:54 pmIt is a strange thing what a... captivating experience it is, I can't find a better world for it, to write such an intense, research-heavy piece of Tolkienfic. After being blocked with it for six whole years, I'm completely immersen in its dual world: the main storyline, which takes place around 2500, Third Age, and the countless history elements from the First Age that CelebrÃan gets confronted with.
I've written nine new chapters in a few months by now, another one is almost done, and I already know what in the following two chapters will likely tappen. It also spawned a one-shot during this time and the basic idea of The Dark Prince, which promises to be another epic tale... with certain connections to Elvenhome, no less.
The downside of the thing is that it eats me up completely. I'm basically non-present in all my other fandoms; I don't even read anything else, not even Tolkienfic in different settings. It demands such concentration that I practically exist in a vacuum while working on it.
A good thing that I don't have a life whatsoever. That could lead to complications. *g*

Date: 2012-02-14 11:14 pm (UTC)Last time I was in Vienna, I failed to buy BBC's complete Robin Hood series from 1980 or so. British people from my flist say it's the best version they had ever seen, but even on sale, the 4 seasons would have cost almost 50E (sorry, no Euro sign on my keyboard) together, and considering the current relation of the Euro to our national currency, well, I couldn't risk to spend so much money on something I might not like, after all.
In hindsight, I probably should have bought it anyway. But I was hunting for Camelot at that time...
