It is a strange thing what a... captivating experience it is, I can't find a better world for it, to write such an intense, research-heavy piece of Tolkienfic. After being blocked with it for six whole years, I'm completely immersen in its dual world: the main storyline, which takes place around 2500, Third Age, and the countless history elements from the First Age that Celebrían gets confronted with.

I've written nine new chapters in a few months by now, another one is almost done, and I already know what in the following two chapters will likely tappen. It also spawned a one-shot during this time and the basic idea of The Dark Prince, which promises to be another epic tale... with certain connections to Elvenhome, no less.

The downside of the thing is that it eats me up completely. I'm basically non-present in all my other fandoms; I don't even read anything else, not even Tolkienfic in different settings. It demands such concentration that I practically exist in a vacuum while working on it.

A good thing that I don't have a life whatsoever. That could lead to complications. *g*

I'm happy to hear you're having so much fun with this story!

It is fun, yes, but it is also a bit oppressively intense at the moment.

BTW, feeling guilty for being so immersed in Tolkien, I've checked [livejournal.com profile] gaheris_lives and realized with a mild schock that we haven't posted there a thing for more than a year! Where has the time gone while we were busy with other things?

Wow! A year? Time just flies by (and not just when you're having fun, that's a dirty lie.) The last year went by insanely quickly. Don't feel guilty, I haven't really done anything Andromeda-wise in ages, either. I keep wanting to rewatch some episodes to get myself back into the Drom mood, but then I never get around to it.

I know what you mean. I still have a pile of DVDs - either self-bought or donated by generous friends - that I haven't even come around to watch, but simply cant bring up the energy to do so. At the same time, I'm whining that there's nothing worth watching on TV.

I guess, I'm just too drained at the moment.

*laughs* It's the same with me! I whine, but I've got plenty of stuff to watch... only you need to be in the right mood for a certain show or movie, otherwise it just isn't the same.

Exactly! Plus, there's also lots of new stuff everybody else knows and talks about, and I cannot get because I'm living under a rock here, and that makes me scowl and ignore all the wonderful stuff that I actually have.

Last time I was in Vienna, I failed to buy BBC's complete Robin Hood series from 1980 or so. British people from my flist say it's the best version they had ever seen, but even on sale, the 4 seasons would have cost almost 50E (sorry, no Euro sign on my keyboard) together, and considering the current relation of the Euro to our national currency, well, I couldn't risk to spend so much money on something I might not like, after all.

In hindsight, I probably should have bought it anyway. But I was hunting for Camelot at that time...

At least there's something to look forward to when you get to Vienna the next time? But yeah, with it having been on sale, I would be upset not to have snatched it up as well.

Too true! It's just so that 50 Euro or so is a lot of money for me, and if I can't be sure that I'll like the stuff - or if I don't actually need it for research purposes, which is how I started collecting Dr. Who, I'll thing thrice before I'd spend it.

I know what you mean, 50 euro for DVDs would be a lot of money for me, too. I would have hesitated as well. Heck, I hesitated with the Supernatural and Vampire Diaries DVDs which were much cheaper (and then was annoyed with myself when I learnt it was really a bargain price, not just a fake "reduced" price.)

It would have been a bargain price - I'd have gotten for it four entire seasons, also basically the whole series in one. It's just so that I never saw a minute of the show, nor did I know the actors, so it would have been flying blind.

Plus, no matter how much I trust the person who recced it to me, I know that my tastes are different from those of most people, and sitting on a complete series that I might not even like, after all, would be a bit... erm... costly.

I've seen notices that showed you've been posting regularly. Hurrah!!! I'm so very delighted to hear that you are once again enraptured, seized, ensnared by writing. I look forward to losing myself in your Tolkfic realm as soon as RL lets me have enough free time with enough brain function to be able to read something that isn't work-related! [hugs and cheers]

Yeah, that's the thing with work, isn't it? Either you don't have any, and that breaks you, or you have too much, and then that breaks you.
