Alagos icon today, because I'm seriously working on finishing The Web of Darkness. The fact that I've finally figured out how the story is gonna end helps enormously. *g*

Three cheers to European postal service, so far - I'm still waiting for news from the Netherlands, but at least Sweden and the UK have allowed my pre-Christmas presents to reach their destination. Now I'm looking anxiously towards the overseas. Hopefully, everything will arrive in time.

Tried out a new recipe today... some sort of shortbread that you have to produce with the help of a cookie press. It's called "Wiener Stangerl". Mum says it's delicious, so I'm allowed to add it to the Christmas baking orgy.

Not much on TV in these days. I still don't seem to find much that would interest me in "Firefly", although I do record the episodes. Perhaps by re-watching them, I'll discover its endearing qualities, although I'm a bit doubtful. But again, I re-discovered "Space: Above and Beyond" via fanfic years later, so anything is possible.

The sad thing is, there's barely anything to look forward to. All that is there are re-runs, things I've seen several times already. At least "Firefly" is something new, even if it's mediocre at best.

Fortunately, there is "Merlin" to wait for. Yay!

Bought the re-make of "When the Earth Stood Still" yesterday. That reminded me of the necessity to get hold of the original somehow. Alas, that movie is like "Forbidden Planet" or "Ladyhawke" - it seems to be impossible to find.

Bought a new book by Ursula K. Le Guin, too - well, new for me, anyway. It's apparently a sequel of some sort to "The Left Hand of Darkness"... or, at least, takes place in the same settings. I'm curious what it will be like. I admire Le Guin's talent, but her books always make me a little depressed. Tolkien, on the other hand, always makes me look into the future with renewed faith. Well, aside from "The Children of Húrin", of course.

Oh, and by the way, our Christmas concert promises to be very nice, once again. I'll make an entry about our choir dramas later, if I find the nerve, but I'll certainly post the programme, so that you can get an impression what we're gonna sing.

ROFL! Yes, it must help. (Or I think it must; it would certainly help me with my story...)

Agree with you about Le Guin; she's a genius, but the stories have the same effect on me so I gave her up years ago.

About Ladyhawke (love that movie!), I certain I could find it for you on DVD. Want me to give it a try?

Awww, thanks, that would be lovely!

Care for some Hungarian stuff in exchange? A DVD about the town or the country, or some genuine Hungarian folk music (instead of the Gypsy stuff many people think would be Hungarian folk art)?

lol - let's first see if the DV is still available. If so.... hmmm... I know: if I ever get to visit your city, you can give me a guided tour (incl. the cafe with the wonderful cakes). :-)

Deal! I *love* showing people around in our beautiful city - can't wait for [livejournal.com profile] espresso_addict and Mr. EA to arrive. And meeting someone from my flist is always a special pleasure.

I have firmly planned to visit Denmark one day, too. I mean, I managed to get to Stockholm, so how much more difficult could it be? Mmmm... Viking sites...

There's an airport only half an hour's drive from my place... :-)
