Sadly, it isn't. We called him in the hospital today - the operation wa scheduled for the day before yesterday - and he told us that they cut him open, took a good, hard look... then sewed the wound again. There was nothing they could do, apparently.
I'm going to visit him on Monday - don't want to interfere with the family - but there's nothing I could really do or say.
