Tomorrow is the day...

... of the long knives. In other words, Mum's scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning. On the one side, I'm glad the endless waiting is over and they're actually doing something for a change.

On the other side, I'm scared shitless.

I won't know anything until tomorrow afternoon, till five or six, as I'll be at school all day. Not that sitting on the clinic floor not doing anything useful would help. *sighs*

Keep us in your good thoughts.

Update: Mum's as okay as it can be expected under the circumstances for the time being. Hope it continues to remain so. She's currently in the IC, but - hopefully - will be brought back to a normal room in two or so days.

Couldn't talk to her doctor as he was gone before I arrived. The hubby of a lovely colleague of mine - also a doctor - promised to hunt him down and squeeze all necessary info out of him. Let's hope and pray.

It is probably just as well that you will have to focus on work (or try to), as you would probably worry yourself to shreds in the meantime and be exhausted by the time your mum is coming around (trying to put a positive spin on it for you!).

Will certainly give those Good Thoughts an extra shove your way tomorrow.

Thanks, Gemma! The waiting is indeed bad, and that's why I'm grateful that they could schedule the operation at such a short notice. I just talked to Mum ten minutes ago on her mobile phone; she said she'll try to sleep now, which is the best thing she could do, I guess.

As for my sleep, I'm so exhausted that it will hopefully work.

It turns out, she only was in IC a single night, which is good. Today she was allowed to stand up and could even walk a few steps.

The problem is now if all that stuff they've removed is in truth malignant and what the next steps will be. Am still frigging worried.

I'm not clear whether she is going to have or has already had surgery. Either way, I am holding you both close, sending healing thoughts to your Mum and soothing sleep to you when next you lie down. It's not over yet - we're still waiting for the results, and it wasn't a small operation. They've removed several things, and that doesn't make me exactly optimistic. Still, I'm trying to hold on my faith... such as it is in these days. *sighs*

A little, yes, but it isn't over yet. We still don't know if she'll need therapy and if yes what kind of it. Apparently, they've removed her gall bladder, parts of two different bile ducts and something else I don't know what it's called in English. So if it's in truth malignant and has already spread, well...
