Still alive
Mar. 30th, 2008 10:30 amI can't believe I've been absent from LJ for almost a week! Well, I've read the posts on my friendslist, but was too hectic to post anything. Not that much would have happened, though...
I've written two chapters for "The Web of Darkness" last week, and made the changes suggested by the most generous Larner who took upon her the burden of beta-ing the story. I've originally intended to concentrate on that story for a while, so that I could finish it in a couple of more chapters, but some obnoxious reviewers took all the joy of it for me, so I've put the story on the back burner again. At the moment, I can't even look at it.
I pulled out of the mothballs the already translated parts of "The Child", the next installment of the "Lost Years" series, and began to type them up. That, too, has to be done. It won't be a very popular story, as it's something I worte at least fifteen years ago or so, and the translation does give it a certain... strange quality, as always. But since I can't find a beta reader for it - the only one who showed vague interest from 200+ Memory Alpha members went into hiding - it will have to do the way it is.
I've begun to work on "Adventures", a series of loosely connected short stories that are supposed to show certain events from Stargate SG-1's 6th and 7th season from Kavanagh's POV, just to entertain myself. I also consider continuing "Retributions", the Kavanagh/Caldwell story, but I'm in a bit of a block with that one.
I'm slowly losing all joy in writing. If one has to fear some rude reaction with every new posted chapter, it's just not worth the effort.
In other news, we had our Easter concert yesterday. It was beautiful. I've let them talk me into doing this last stunt with them, and I'm glad I have. We sang wondrous pieces, written by Händel, Lasso, Back, Pitoni, etc. It was a worthy last act.

Date: 2008-03-30 06:40 pm (UTC)I'm so sorry you feel that way. I would suggest posting the story here at lj, too, where mainly your friend's list can read it; you would probably get more (and hopefully better) comments on it, and more friendly ones. However, one bad review is not the end of the world. I had Mael-Gul viciously sporked on deleterius, last year, and luckily for me, I found out about it only months after the fact; but all in all, I could take it in stride, because I knew from my lj that some of the people who really count to me most do read (and like) the story.
I do apologize that I haven't followed WoD very much, till now, because I am so unfamiliar with the background of this crossover; but I will try to start reading. However, I owe Juno Magic four months of reading and reviewing of her story (which equals about sixty chapters!), too, because I stopped following it around Christmas; I have neglected my reading of stories terribly these last few months. So, I shall try, but I can make no promise for an informed review anytime soon. But I can tell you this much: your writing is good, and worth te effort, and your stories (what I have read from them) are full of fresh and unconventional ideas and very enriching. So, please do not give them up!
/end rally speech.
Take care and look after yourself, will you? *hugs*

Date: 2008-03-30 07:46 pm (UTC)I don't expect people on my flist to read my stuff just because they are my friends. I just wish the general audience would be a bit more appreciative towards things that are a bit diffrent, that's all.
But if you want to read the stuff, it's posted to
I haven't read much lately, either, in the LOTR fandom, save from Larner's stories that had grown on me increasingly in the recent months. Usually, I'm not so much for Hobbitfic, but I like her ideas about different cultures of ME, even though they are very different from mine.

Date: 2008-04-01 06:29 pm (UTC)Choir-wise, folks are still in the groveling phase. They want to get me for two more events, but I don't think I'm gonna do it. Perhaps in next term I'll consider rejoining, but with barely familiar with eighty per cent of the pieces, it would be irresponsible.
