Today is movie night again
Jan. 26th, 2008 07:05 pmI've watched "The 13th Warrior" on German TV again. It's the third or fourth time, not counting those when I watched it on DVD, in English original. Still loving the film to pieces. Yes, I know it's full of inaccuracies, the whole concept is standing on clay feet, and so on. Yes, I know that it isn't considered a very good movie. I still love it and watch it every time it's shown on TV. I wish I could get my hands on a version where all those little scenes with the Vikings that got cut out have been reinserted. But, I guess, one can't have everything.
I assume I'll have the same relationship to "Kingdom of Heaven". I love that movie, too, love Orlando's acting, and don't care if it's historically inaccurate. Or if it has gaping plot holes. I just don't care.
I'm going to watch "First Knight" on German TV tonight. Have already seen once, but Sean Connery is just too good to miss. I'm seriously unhappy about Richard Gere being cast as Lancelot, though. Granted, I've never liked him, for me he's one of the most unattractive men on the silver screen, but even if he weren't, he's *boring*. No woman in her right mind would give up Sean Connery for *him*. Especially not an older Sean Connery who's ten times more appealing than he'd been in his youth.
*happily awaits rotten tomatoes thrown by Gere-fans*
