Yep, finally got around to see the movie on Hungarian TV. Gah, was it bad. Not necessarily because of the differences to mythology - honestly, I didn't miss the stupid gods who manipulated the life of men like chess pieces. And Sean Bean as Odysseus was great. I even liked Orlando Bloom as Paris - a lot more than as Legolas, to be perfectly honest. And I absolutely loved Hector, whoever the actor was who played him.

But, oh God, Brad Pitt!!! The quintessence of godawfulness on two legs. Not only did he look like a complete moron, he couldn't act a bit, either.

Now, I readily admit that I'm biased - I hate that guy with the passion of a thousand burning suns. I haven't seen him in one thing where I could have endured him. But as Achilleus, he truly reached a new level of badness.

Feel free to throw rotten tomatoes at me. *g*

I completely agree with you about Klytemnestra. That woman really rocked. What a shame that her children felt their "sacred" duty to kill her because of their bastard of a father. But that's patriarchal society for you.

I admit that at first I've mistaken Briseis for Cassandra. My mythology knowledge has become really rusty since I switched from Ancient times to the Middle Ages due to heavy Tolkien infatuation. *g*

Perhaps it helped me that I've heard so many bad things about the movie, that I decided to see it as an independent piece of fantasy rather than anything related to Greek mythology. But even so, it was fairly bad in my eyes. Although Orlando was a lot prettier with his natural dark hair (again, for me).

Well, I like the wig, especially on my Elf. ;) But I like him with his own dark hair, too. Did you see him in Kingdom of Heaven and in Elizabethtown? Yum! And he learned to act, in the meantime; as bad as critics said that Elizabethtown was, I liked him there.

I also liked him in the last part of POTC, where he had some real charisma. That guy needed to get a few years of experience and age under his belt before he could be more than just mostly pretty; but in the end, he managed.

I've had Kingdom of Heaven waiting on my shelf for years by now, always waiting for the right time to watch it. Apparently, that right time still hasn't come yet - I don't know why.

I saw the first part of POTC, but frankly, I found the movie not half as good as other people. It was too silly for my taste. But I'm a person of weird tastes, so it probably doesn't say anything.
