Or, to repeat Dr. McKay's elegant phrase, a certifiable whackjob. Yes, I've signed up to the Zelenka ficathon at [livejournal.com profile] fic4radek. As if I didn't have enough unfinished WIPs. Well, the advantage of a ficathon is that they want finished stories. And Zelenka is adorable.

Also, I joined the [livejournal.com profile] notshep comm. It's a small one, but we few people who despise Sheppard need a place, too. Not much going on, actually. But since my Atlantis fic isn't very Sheppard-friendly (to put it mildly), perhaps I'll find people who actually would like it.

Oh, and I joined [livejournal.com profile] andromedafix, too. Found a few excellent stories. Might later add them to my fic rec page, once they are finished. So, it's mostly sci-fi time nowadays. Since 2007's first piece of so-called concrit (read: bitching without reason) killed off any indication I might have felt towards writing Tolkienfic for a while, I need greener pastures.

Oh, and by the way, [livejournal.com profile] classics_slash is a great place to find new and different reading material.

I will. I promise. I'm a bit stuck with "Birthright 3 - The Lady of the Lake" at the moment, but I've finally finished the first chapter of the Atlantis/Andromeda x-over. It's in Paul's tender hands for beta work but will be posted, soon.

Someone gave you a bad review on your Tolkienfic? When? I didn't see it, I can't imagine what they would have had a problem with.

Oh, they basically told me that my research sucks, that Carcassonne would never work as a model for a Gondorian town and that the medieval stuff I used for "The Young Knights" is from a different century than Middle-earth.

Don't ask me what century Middle-earth is supposed to be from, because Tolkien somehow failed to give us the exact time. [/sarcasm]

Yeah, I know it's stupid that I'm so upset about it. But I spend a great amount of time doing proper research, and such half-arsed "expertise" angers me a lot more than the fact that they found the story itself boring. That's a matter of taste, and I know I overdo the background trivia sometimes, so I can understand that some people do find it boring.

So I guess you should write stupid pre-teen/tenth-walker/lego-haldermances in order to make them happy? Not, sounds like a right jackass to me, ignore them.

Yeah, perhaps I should. At least the fanbrats have their own following and hundreds of gushing reviews. And their packmates attack anyone who criticizes their stuff.

It's not that I care about the opinion of the person who gave me that "brilliant" piece of concrit. It just kills my joy in writing Tolkienfic, whether I want or not. :((
