I'd probably rant about the TV series being inaccurate too, but I'd still like the chance to see the thing...
As for the LoTR movies, well they've inspired many people to write fanfiction and to read the books. Besides after the awesome scenes of Mt. Doom, Rivendell and Lorien, they aren't all bad.
