Yeah, I know how unlikely it is that anybody would care, but this helps me clearing my thoughts...

Sooo, I've finally come to a decision re: measuring time before the rising of the Moon and the Sun. I decided that the New Year of the Dark Elves would fall onto one of the 4 annual stellar solsctices (yep, I know the term is a contradiction in itself, but what can I do), when a certain star (Borgil) would rise before Menelvagor, marking the annual meteor shower seen above their hidden city. They will have other names, of course, names in Primitive Elvish, but that wouldn't matter.

What truly matters, is that I gave the Dark Elves an ancient prophecy, based loosely on the Second Prophecy of Mandos, which will serve as his motivation to leave Ramadur and interact with other Elves, for the first time since Melkor has been chained. Because Menelvagor, or Telumehtar, or Taimondo, or whatever else he might be called, was supposed to have a sword-brother among Elves (namely Ingil, Ingwë's son), and together they were supposed to wear off Melkor's evil.

Later the Second Prophecy underwent changes that brought Túrin Turambar into the picture instead of Ingil; but since I hate that guy with the passion of a thousand burning sons, I took the creative liberty to return to the original version. With compliments to the Canon Police and suggestions where they could go and what they could do with themselves.

Other than that, I'm sick like a dog again. Stomach flu is so not fun!
