I've decided to try my hand on an Advent Calendar again - it's been too long since the last one - this time featuring predominantly First Age Elves. The keyword is "return", and so the title is Not So Happy Returns. Currently, it is posted on a daily basis to FF.Net and SoA, but I intend to post it to edhellondawards as well.

I'm not sure I'll be keep up writing a story a day, but I've already put together 8 parts, so let's hope. :)

A short Epilogue to "Elvenhome" has been posted to both FanFiction.Net and Stories of Arda. Let me quote the end notes here:

"This is not how I originally planned to end “Elvenhome”. I wanted to finish it at 40 chapters because, well, that is such a nice, round number. But the muse died on me, and while I am certainly capable of going on by sheer willpower – have, in fact, done so many times – this is not the kind of story that can be forced. Inspiration either comes – or it does not.

So, instead of a nice, round number of chapters in, oh, another six years, I decided that having a nice, finished story now would be better. There will be a second part, definitely, picking up the tale a hundred or so years later, when Celebrían finally feels strong enough to move on to Aman itself, at least temporarily; and perhaps even a short third part, eventually, in which Elrond and Celebrían will be reunited. I cannot tell when, though. As I said, Inspiration must come on its own, in this case.

In the meantime, I am planning to pick up some old WIPs again, namely “Emissary of the Mark” and “The Book of Mazarbul”, which are also overdue for an update. Other than that – whatever the muses are willing to do.

My heartfelt thanks for the interest and support of all those who kept reading and reviewing – you know who you are. I hope you enjoyed the trip to Elvenhome and will be back for more, eventually."

I have worked on this story for the last ten years, with a huge six-year-gap in the middle of it, and while it's a relief to have it finally finished, I'm not entirely happy with the hurried ending. But there will be "Elvenhome 2 - Aman", eventually, and that gives me hope.

"Chapter 37 - The Taming of Fire" has been posted to SoA and FF.Net. In which we learn that you have to *ask* for forgiveness for it to be granted, and that Maiar are just people, too.

Sorry for the delay. For some reason, the second part of this chapter kept refusing to come together. I hope the rest will go more smoothly from now on.

Namely on FF.Net. Granted it took me 29 chapters and 8 years(!) to get there, but considering that I'm neither a Big Name Author in the fandom (in any fandom, to tell the truth) nor one of the inner circle Silmficcers, I still consider it a success. *is pleased*

I know, other people get there in half a year with a couple of chapters, but in the end, I got there, too. Ha!

Chapter 28: The Rowan Tree Inn has been posted to FF.Net and Stories of Arda. In which we get to see what a very fancy Elven inn looks like, and Celebrían is reunited with an old friend. Also, certain rare canon characters make an appearance.

"Chapter 26: Of Seeing Stones and Rings of Power" has been posted to FanFiction.Net and Stories of Arda. Celebrían, Elenwë and Aracáno look into the palantír - but what are they going to see?
