What about Torchwoodgate?

Discussing the latest chapter of Atlantis Café with artemis10002000 gave me the idea of a fairly bizarre AU. Originally, we were discussing the possibilities of another body-swapping crapfic á la Special Unit 3, but then an even wilder idea occurred to me:

What if, in a different turn of events, the entire Atlantis expedition would become the responsibility of the UK instead of the US? And if the UK would send Torchwood and UNIT personnel, as those with the most experience with alien life and alien technology?

In any case, I think it could be a fun joint project, once the basics are laid down. After a couple of introductory chapters and a lot of discussion about what kind of aliens they'd find in the Pegasus galaxy - they could be the Wraith, of course, but it isn't absolutely necessary, as there are strange enough creatures in the Whoniverse, too - everyone interested could write his or her independent story about their adventures.

I really, really shouldn't spend my nonexistent time with brand new plotbunnies, especially not while I'm just a short paragraphs from bringing the curent story arc of 'Atlantis Café' to closure, but here you are. I just couldn't resist.

This isn't the whole expedition, of course - not nearly 150 members yet. So, suggestions are welcome.
